I just have a strange feeling that when Miles leaves (whether by choice or involuntarily), the LSU program is in for a rude awakening regardless of who we get as coach.

It just "feels" so much like the Nebraska Solich situation to me. IMO, we will all soon find out what mediocrity really is.

Will we eventually get back to dominance? Sure we will. But it's going to take a dose of reality before we do.

My cousin lives in Boulder. I will ask him to organize a March for Miles.

Are we in a state of dominance right now?

LSU should offer to pay Les' first 2 years salary at Colorado.

Actually, yeah, it never ended. LSU has been a cornerstone of college football the last 10 years, and here we are yet again in 2010. Some just don't see that, and that's fine.

You'll see soon enough what mediocrity really is. Trust me. And it pains me to say that, because I hate seeing LSU lose and I dread what our fans have set ourselves up for. But things are going to get a lot worse when Miles leaves before they get better, I just feel it in my gut. The writing is certainly on the wall.

It'll be a good thing, though. We need a good purging.

This is a stupid idea from the Post. No way Miles goes from $4M a year at an SEC school to a terrible program like Colorado for what $800K a year. Just doesn't make sense.

I agree I doubt it happens, but I think Colorodo will pony up a lot more than $800k per year. I bet they'd go up to the $2-3 million range if they could land a coach with Miles' resume. Miles gives instant credibility to a program like Colorado (not to mention instant media attention which they have sorely lacked the last few years).

From the Post:

But, an intriguing choice would be a current SEC head coach.

Les Miles of LSU probably could be lured to CU. Miles and LSU have just about had enough of each other, and the coach of the 2007 BCS champions has said to friends that his favorite place to live and coach was Boulder, where he served as offensive line coach under McCartney from 1982-86. Would the "Mad Hatter," so named because of his dicey play-calling and odd nature, be the first choice as Les "Miles High"?

...with amount $$ Les has in bank account - I would live in Boulder, Co. ANY DAY of the week over Red Stick in the Mud. But, alas, don't have that kind of cash and stuck here where the cost of living matches the general intelligence level. Low. At least we got the food and Mardi Gras to take the edge off...

I could definitely see Miles taking something in the 2-2.5 mil range to get out of town and go to a place he likes. Whether he sees it or not I'm sure his agent and close friends see what the atmosphere is like at LSU right now. Wouldn't be a bad move for him at all. I think LSU would come out ahead in the long haul but would suffer in the short term especially if this recruiting class falls apart.

We're talking about the University of Colorado, not Pikes Peak Community College. CU is not a terrible program. They just need the right coach to get back to.......wait, nevermind. Miles will be a good hire for them.

No.
