I've met Saban one on one a couple of times. He can be personable enough when he needs to be, but you could tell it was all rehearsed. Icebreaker joke, canned patter, etc. Miles OTOH is actually interested in learning what makes other people tick. He's the one asking questions.
That said, these guys are most likely a lot less antagonistic towards each other than the fans want to believe. Their life experiences overlap a lot more than they do with those of their respective fanbases.

You would be to if Miles was crushing your balls while sitting next to you looking happy and relaxed.

I was thinking the same thing every time they showed Saban on camera. Les was just soaking it all in and looked ready to celebrate with his boys that night.

Get back with me in 2-3 years and let me know how you feel about N$.
On the subject of Les getting along with Saban, I see no reason Les and Saban would have any ill feelings toward each other. N$ didn't look like he was having a good time last night. Les looked like he was enjoying the hell out of it.

Nicks face is beginning to split. Notice how fast Saban can turn a smile off? It's like he can't hold it too long. Regardless, its not what he says but what he may be thinking. " what a croc. These LSU players are a bunch of has beens. My guys are better and we will show the world when we beat their arses in January.

That should be some interesting conversation.
CLM: Good to see ya, how are you?
$$$: Well I think if Trent executes and doesn't turn the trophy over, he has a real good chance at bringing it home. This conversation would be the only distraction I can think of.
CLM: OK, see ya.

Get out of here you moron. You would expect the Americans to have more respect for Benedict Arnold during the Revolution because of all the battles he won for them before flipping sides, right?
The man coaches Bama now, not LSU. That was his choice. Don't tell us how to feel about a former coach who now coaches a divisional rival. His exploits while here are remembered and respected but we aren't going to sit and praise the guy while he actively works in stark opposition to our teams' success. Only a moron wouldn't understand that.
Benedict Arnold tried to have Washington captured by the British. And that's war not FB. We don't have but one example and you got to go way back but Wallace Wade won 3 NC's and left to go to Duke where he finished 2nd a couple of times. He is revered by our fan base even today. Statue and all. Even if Saban went to Auburn his statue would remain, (maybe with a few eggs on it every week) but it would remain there. Most of our fans would always appreciate what he did. I suspect most of yours does to.

CLM: This is a quality program being put on outside the perimeters. I feel both of our players have a real want to be here, and an even greater want to honor the tradition of the trophy.
$$$$$: Can you not kill me so horribly in the Super Dome? I mean, I have this job interview in Austin the next day.
Real cute you having $$$$ signs for Saban, as if for Miles money has no meaning.
The only reason Miles' is still at LSU is because of how aggressive LSU has been with making sure Miles' has one of the best contracts in the country otherwise he would have left here several years ago.

Nick's smiles are not from the inside, just part of his game face when he decides it is the look he wants to have. Totally the opposite from Les, who is more from the heart.

Nicky probably looks nervous in his sleep.
Les (whispering): Nick, stop tapping your foot. I told you that you can take care of me when we get back to the hotel.

I have nothing but respect for Saban and what he did for LSU and also what he has accomplished at Bama so far. Some of you people take this shite way too seriously. So he left LSU to coach in the NFL and then took the Bama job. This is America. It's a business decision. Grow up and quit being pussies.

Saban always looks like he thinks someone is about to ask him to borrow money. I bet he is a huge prick in person.

First, as someone else said LSU helped make Nicky too; had you ever heard of Saban at Michigan State? I hadn't.
He was also a grumpy prick here too but people put up with him 'cause he won.
And he's now at a place where his success is directly detrimental to LSU. If he wins the West, LSU doesn't. That just does not go over well, I don't care what the circumstances.
Finally, after we got Les we realized we could win, more than with Saban, without having a prick for a coach. So, after all that, it's just oh so fun to pick on the little fella.

I think people on the Rant don't understand what it is like to be a bigtime coach or pro athlete. I highly doubt these guys actually hate each other, and are probably closer to being friends than enemies. They were probably just shooting the shite.

Not when I met him he wasn't. He's brutal as a coach, but in the offseason he isn't what everyone expects.

Nick is a likable guy when he is not totally focused on football.
he is machine when he is focused...and I think that really gets under people's skin because he can be in a complete another world and really not care about your feelings or thoughts.
It's a strength and a glaring weakness. Nick wants to be one of those larger than life types IMHO...I think he likes the fact that people are afraid of him. Miles would be the type to sense that feel and try to put you at ease...Saban would act to make you stay uncomfortable..? Not sure, I've never met him
Paul Bryant was a man of few words..was harsh to media, and didn't do much small talk...
Miles is very warm and approachable...Saban will never be that type
for 5 years, I loved that about Saban because I loved his intensity and winning...now seeing Miles in with a different approach with basically the same level of success, I would choose Miles every time because life is short!
