Still 35 games left. Anything can happen.
Yankees lead the League in win pct and games won. DJ is part of the reason why.
Oh and go Yankees!

Born and raised a Yankees fan. Been a fan since the mid-80’s, during the Jesse Barfield, Donnie Baseball, and Steve Sax days.

Regardless of MVP consideration, it's great to see DJ getting the national press recognition, that should have, but didn't come his way while in Colorado.

I thunk DJ should get a ton of credit for basically carrying the Yankees through all their injury issues to have the best record in baseball

The only thing the Rant agrees on is that CPM is the best coach. I think he’s an awful fit here but that makes me an outcast.

All that talk about how great a season he's having and not one statistic.

Lmao

That sure as shite won't help LeMahieu's case vs Trout. Trout is sporting a 186 wRC+ and 60+ oWAR.

I think the point was him contending for mvp means he’s having a great year and is proud of our former Tiger.

Don't forget about Michael Brantley of the Astros whose stats are almost equal to LeMahieu's and are better than anyone overall on the team.

He is having a great year but who would you give the MVP to of the following three players?

118 G, .298 Avg, 99 R, 27 2B, 41 HR, 96 RBI, 10 SB, 98 BB, 102 K, .444 OBP, .667 SLG, 1.110 OPS

118 G, .275 Avg, 92 R, 25 2B, 29 HR, 80 RBI, 4 SB, 91 BB, 65 K, .405 OBP, .550 SLG, .955 OPS

111 G, .338 Avg, 86 R, 27 2B, 20 HR, 83 RBI, 4 SB, 36 BB, 67 K, .386 OBP, .538 SLG, .925 OPS

Love the summary of facts as listed. Agree that Trout across the board is impressive and will probably win MVP. My point still stands...that DJ “in contention” or better put considered as a top 2-3 candidate. Still very proud of our Tiger.

Granted I don't follow BB closely, but didn't someone say that DJ could make history by being the only person ever to win the batting title in both leagues? Or did I make this up?

Yep. Already won NL batting title while at The Rockies. Also, may be one of a select few to win a Golden Glove in both leagues if he wins one with the Yankees. Though probably not going to because he plays multiple positions and the GG is position specific.

In the modern era, yes. DJ is having a great year and hopefully getting a ring to to it off in a couple months. No question this is Mike Trout's world, but I'm damn proud of what DJ is doing.

ETA: He's doing this for $12 million a year instead of the 30+ million a year the Yankees were in talks with Manny Machado and Bryce Harper for and neither of those guys even made the allstar team.
