I’ve watched a LSU game at Legends in 2008. It was fun but not amazing. They played the GBFT music and had some P&G bunting so you definitely knew it was an LSU bar. Typical NYC bartenders.

2008 would have to be the first year the alumni group moved it to Legends (they hosted it at another bar, Turtle Bay, in 2007 and earlier), so they might not have grown the fan support to the point they appear to have done over the years based on how people now rave about it. I only went a handful of times between 2008 and maybe 2010 by myself and generally agree with your take: "fun but not amazing".

Tried it again in 2024 for the LSU/Bama game, which was a bad choice. Got there too close to kickoff. Was crowded and viewing options/angles were not so great. That, and nothing to cheer for after the 1st qtr.

Bottom line: Legends is a nice enough bar, but not an extraordindary venue in and of itself. As with any night out, who you go with and interact with will have the largest impact on how memorable the night is, with the level of excitement the game generates being an important factor. I'm sure the 2022 and 2019 games were infinitely more fun to watch there with an LSU crowd than the 2024 game.

I won't be going there this year for LSU/Bama, but hope it's a great game so that those who do go come back to say how awesome it was.

Watched A&M game there this year , had a blast . Great atmosphere , definitely gets packed . Upstairs is a little less packed. Right by Empire State Building, look for Mike the Tiger inflatable out front .

Watched the last second fg win against Auburn here. I’ve always wanted to go back. We were upstairs and it was pretty awesome. Report back on your experience!

The only bunting I previously knew about occurred on the diamond. So here’s some help if any of you were like me:

Bunting has several distinct meanings depending on the context:

1. Festive and Patriotic Decoration

• Definition: Colorful flags, fabric swags, or pleated fan shapes used to decorate streets, porches, or buildings for holidays, parties, and political events.

my wife, son and daughter were in NYC for the 2019 NC Game. My wife went early that day and talked to the manager and told him it was my son's 21st birthday that night. He said come by 90mins early and he would reserve a table for them and give my son a birthday to remember

They got to the bar and it was a full on party going on with a table right in the middle set aside with a VIP Card and Happy Birthday on it

LSU won the NC that night, my wife and kids had a great time and made memories forever. My wife said the staff at Legends was fantastic

I live in LA and the Santa Monica Jamesons is always a good time for game days. Couldn’t find Tony’s at the grocery story by me and the server gave me a fresh can

Best atmosphere for an LSU football game outside of Death Valley. Enjoy every second at Legends and in the Greatest City in the World!

I've watched about a dozen LSU games at Legends over the years. The owner, Liam McGreevy, who is a short Irishman, is a nice guy but is definitely not an LSU fan other than the fact that we make him a lot of money. He is also a fan of the four other college teams that claim that bar, the NFL teams, NBA teams, soccer teams, etc.

LSU are just the only fans who have gotten him on TV...

I live in NYC, am from Nola and went to LSU. It’s as legit as it gets. They deck it out with LSU banners / flags and have the fight songs going. There is always a crowd of legit LSU fans, and every TV has the Tigers on (maybe one or two don’t to see the other primetime game). The passion has gone down over the past couple of years, so it now serves as the Oregon bar also. That only create minor overlap problems tho. Guaranteed to have a blast and meet good people. Food is decent but bar food so keep the orders simple

Now this I will argue with. I think it is called Legends because their food is legendarily awful. How do you frick up basics like fries and chicken fingers? Eat somewhere else, anywhere else before coming here. If you get hungry, walk a block or two in any direction and get food from a food cart vendor that will be infinitely better.
