he threw 5 ints in the 4th quarter, and 3 of them were for TD's. yes, that was atrocious, but LSU was terrible from 91-94. Auburn was exceptionally good. In 93 they went 11-0, in 94 they went 9-1-1. When LSU played them, Auburn had a 13 game winning streak - LSU had no business even being close to Auburn for that game. The fact that Howard was even in a position to throw TD's to lose that game actually shows that he had some talent, despite being on a horrible team. Even after the two TD's that tied the game 23-23, Howard still drove down the field to take the lead 26-23. And even after the third TD to trail 30-23, he led them back down the field with less than two minutes left, before throwing the last TD in the end zone with 12 seconds left.

No, Howard was not that great, but people act like LSU had a national championship team and Howard showed up and choked it away. That was not the case at all. He was a decent (C+ to B-) QB at best who probably would have fared better with more talent to surround him, and a better coach to help him develop.

But for those of you who act like he's the worst QB LSU ever had because of that one game, you're sorely misinformed.

For what it's worth, since you were responding to my post, and since I did express support for Jamie Howard, I can certainly answer your question. Hell no, I did not trash Jamarcus Russell. I think he might be the greatest quarterback we ever had.

I just don't understand people like you who can't accept that, when talking about two LSU players, it's possible to support both, and supporting one does not obligate you to trash the other.

Jamarcus Russell, Matt Flynn, Matt Mauck, Rohan Davey, Josh Booty, Herb Tyler and Jamie Howard were ALL good quarterbacks for LSU, although all faced very different circumstances with different levels of talent around them, different coaches to teach them and they obviously had different levels of ability, so they produced different results. But they were ALL Tigers and I am proud of ALL of them.

Why's that so hard for people like you?

Jamie was awfully talented, but I thought Chad Loupe got more of a shaft by the coaches than anybody. To see Curley chastise the defense for even touching Jamie in practice then to see Chad leveled one play later without the slightest word......pathetic display of a dishonorable man/men. WIthout a doubt, the biggest victims of the Hallman era were the players.

Hurts to read some fans on this board speak so badly of some of these kids......I played with some of them, I lived with some of them, and they never had a chance. Many came with dreams and left with boos.
