You would then bitch when those fathers leave early because they want to get home with their kid before mid night.

What I don't understand is why after you've paid the price for a ticket and parking why not get the most out of your entertainment buck.

I go back a ways, but in the 1960s with mostly mediocre teams, most fans stayed put the entire game. If anything traffic was even worse in the 60s than now.

he north and south endzones were full and seemed to remain full. In my opinion its the 100's that is killing Tiger Stadium. If tickets are not being used those ticket owners should lose the rights.

I was in the NEZ and agree with this. The corporate folk in the 100's are who are leaving. I stayed the whole game as I always do. Take my time going back to the tailgate and have another drink. I have a designated driver so I can do that. Was back at the hotel in about a half an hour.

I have a three hour drive home. If LSU is up by two scores going into the 4th, I am rolling and listening to the rest of the game on the radio.

It’s pretty easy; mind your own business on what people do with their money & time

some of it is the damned concession lines. The West side line filled back in some a good 5 minutes into the 3rd quarter. The long slow lines don't help people get back to their seats.

IMO the problem with fans leaving early is all tied to one chronic problem - the access roads to and from the stadium. Especially since LSU expanded the seating in the stadium.

LSU can fix the traffic problem. I have been to stadiums all over the SEC. Ole Miss handles it best. They have shuttles that take people to the outer lots. If LSU wanted to they could fix the problem. They could have large number of buses that shuttle people. Shuttles could go from the stadium to Tigerland, Cow palace, Lod Cook, and possibly hotels on College. The key to making the traffic problem go away is getting people off campus en masse faster. They will never spend the money.

The people who try to beat the traffic probably get the worst of it. We stayed till the final whistle and then some, went back to the car and drank and talked about the game for 30 minutes or so and barely sat in any traffic.

I started going in '67 and it wasnt nearly as bad. BUT..we fixed that. My mom would take me and my friend to Bon Marche and catch the bus!!
It was around $5 for the bus ride and and ticket!!!

Most people say it’s because of traffic.

I think it's much deeper than that, IMHO today's culture prioritizes many more things higher than live college football than was the case in the 80's or 90's.

And because of that it's much easier to rationalize leaving early or as I've seen many times with my nieces and nephews just tailgating then deciding not to go to the game at all and going to watch wherever.

Avoiding the traffic may be a compelling reason for a few but I don't think it's the overwhelming issue.

We were hungry, the score was out of hand, and we didn't want to eat crap food, so we left.
