It doesn’t matter if we 4 or 5 seed
What matters is being paired up with Auburn, Alabama or A&M regional

People were insisting the 4 seed was a lock.

Most posters predicted a 5 seed, with a 4 or 6 seed not out of the question depending on other league tournaments.

Sometimes it can matter, yes. Sometimes it doesn’t

But, but the SEC tourney doesn't matter because LSU had the #4 seed locked up.

Nobody said this because there's no difference between a 4 seed and an 8 seed.

That's the only point I was making. Looking forward to Omaha.

Literally no one has said conference tournaments never matter. They said it didn’t matter this year and it didn’t.

I've read this board for the last 10 days and there are those who say that.

I'm not sure who said conference tournaments never matter, it's all dependent on position going into said tournaments and coaching philosophy.

Teams that need to make up ground need the tournament success more. Teams that are solid in their position often use it as a last chance tuneup (in varying ways).

Some poster yesterday, maybe today said if SECT didn't matter for LSU, then why not sit everyone? That's a complete misunderstanding of getting arms work, but limiting pitch counts, starting players you normally wouldn't if it were regional play, to see how they perform.

It's a lot more nuanced than conference tournaments never matter, or teams trying to lose or some nonsense.

Flipping seeds with Vanderbilt.
Reward for winning SEC tournament. Vandy #5 and LSU #6.

Yes it mattered, could have wound up with a higher national seed.

LSU was never winning that tournament with its pitching depth. Vandy was getting its reward regardless.
