Some of us are old enough to remember when ONLY the band played in Tiger Stadium. It was glorious.
And having the band play in between plays did a few things IMO. First it engaged the students and the crowd to participate with what the band was playing. Second without the piped in music at 180 decibels, the crowd would HAVE to get loud for every play and stay loud.
Also the sound system just sucks no matter what is playing. The bass in the north EZ is ridiculous
