Why is he doing interviews with a Baton Rouge station during camp?

They do interviews with people from all over. They go around CFB and the SEC especially.

I know this is some bizarre pathology talking (I've been cautiously supportive of O), but I'm still fairly convinced (50% at least) that Ensminger is a placeholder for O to sell Kiffin as the next OC - one more bite of the scapegoat apple, so to speak if Ensminger doesn't exactly work out.

Now, if Ensminger sets the world on fire in 2018, that will be in the past, but O looks to be setting up Kiffin for the next OC and his successor as LSU's HC. O is like a lot of guys at that level - personal (not institutional) loyalty is paramount to him.

Tell me I'm wrong.

Kiffin passed on that job and about a million dollars more a year to be a HC

He isn’t going back to work for anyone.

What other active division 1 Head coaches have been on lately? Especially ones from 4 states away.

O would be moronic enough to think of something like that

O got the LSU job in the first place by selling Kiffin as the next OC. That was a part of why they hired he was hired. Even though Ogeron had little to no bona fides to get the LSU job on his own merit, his "plan" was to put together a staff that would have the best DC (Aranda) and best OC (Kiffin) with O simply just being "Gilligan" on the S.S. Tiger. There is no need to "sell" Kiffin as OC. Alleva was on board with that plan. The unexpected part was Kiffin going to FAU.

IMO, Kiffin is at FAU because Saban made sure he wouldn't be the OC at LSU. Just think about it. Kiffin could have made MORE money as the LSU OC than the FAU HC. He also could have done it with virtually the same autonmy as a head coach. (Do you really think Kiffin would listen to Ogeron's offensive input?) His head coaching "stock" would have been just as high if he turned around LSU's offense as it is by doing a great job at FAU.

Financially and otherwise (except if you want to say living in S. Fla is better than living in S. LA), the LSU OC job was better. Yet, he went to FAU. Why? I suspect a certain HC threatened to bring some skeletons out of the closet if Kiffin chose to go to an SEC rival.

Kiffen is not Spurrier. Spurrier was successful immediately when given a head coaching job. Kiffen is an immature douche who hasn't lasted long at any stint. The only thing he did well at Alabama was recruit them a nationally talented 5-star QB. His offensive play calling at Alabama was often horrible too throwing the ball late in games when they could have run over teams with their ground game. If not for Les Miles and John Chavis debacle, he would have lost to a LSU team with Anthony Jennings because he insisted on targeting Amari Cooper 9,000 times in the game.

Kiffen is terribly overrated and is a known douche.

Well I want him to replace Orgeron. I know the timing likely won’t work out. But the dude is “The Quarterback Whisperer” if he can make Balakay Sims up the numbers he did at Alabama. I am convinced he can turn anyone into a QB. The dude is cut throat and ruthless on the field coaching, I want that at LSU.

I don’t know if Kiffin will ever have the composure and maturity to have sustained success at a big school. Not that our current coach does either but...

You’re a fricking moron in like multiple ways

quote:

Spurrier was successful immediately when given a head coaching job

He went 5-6, 7-3-1 and 8-4 at Duke.
Kiffin s first 3 years coaching college he went 7-6, 8-5 and 10-2.

quote:

The only thing he did well at Alabama was recruit them a nationally talented 5-star QB.

And 1 NC and 2 SEC Championships. And he made Jalen Hurts look good.

quote:

His offensive play calling at Alabama was often horrible too throwing the ball late in games when they could have run over teams with their ground game.

Didn’t Henry win a Heisman running over people late in games?

quote:

If not for Les Miles and John Chavis debacle, he would have lost to a LSU team with Anthony Jennings because he insisted on targeting Amari Cooper 9,000 times in the game.

But they didn’t.

Kiffen is terribly overrate

He isn’t.

But Saban is an a-hole and CUM is a scumback. Who fricking cares.

If the O experiment doesn’t work, Lsu will need a splash hire to re-energize the fan base. Aranda may not be that guy but Kiffin would be big news nationally and would keep saban up at night. Especially if Aranda would stay on.
