I disagree

I have not seen consistent arm strength or consistent decision making.

To be fair, before the season we all would've called people crazy and dumb if they had said Lane Kiffin would have Ole Miss in the playoffs with a D2 QB starting the majority of the season.

I don't think the premise of OP's post is that crazy or far out. Kiffin has shown he can make QBs very good with potential to be great college QBs.

I don't think Van Buren is a bad QB. He's shown some flashes this year playing behind a terrible offensive line in a horrible offensive system. Is it really that crazy to think Kiffin can come in and not only fix the scheme but work with a player like Van Buren and get him to be good? I don't think so.

I think Kiffin can certainly win with a player like Van Buren. Is he the best option? Probably not, but I could certainly see a world where Kiffin goes 9-3 or 10-2 with a QB like MVB.

If he stays to develop he might eventually turn into a good QB. Right now no. If anyone could work magic on him it's Lane.

Sorry this statement is pure fiction. This guy either one hops the pass or throws the ball into the side line seats. He does have the ability to run but an elite passer he is not. Nor is he capable of of reading defenses. LSU needs to get top notch talent from the portal for any chance of a successful season. The fact that they chose to paly an injured Nuss over letting MVB take on the role speaks volumes as to what the staff felt of his ability.

I’m ok if Van Buren wants to stay and be a back up. Hopefully that’s the plan.

Not even close. Van Buren is far worse than I expected.

I would like to see MVB sit a year and Develop within Lanes System. He still makes basic fundamental mistakes and is not consistently accurate. I think Lane can fix those things but if we go into next year with MVB as QB1 it will be another long year!

It depends on his role? I trust Lane though. Maybe Van Buren wants to coach one day and would like to stay and learn from Kiffin? Maybe he would be ok with backing up and learning? Lane knows what he is doing. We definitely need numbers as far as QB is concerned. Maybe Van Buren is ok with just backing up and finishing his time under Kiffin?

his arm strength is fine. it just appears to be an issue occasionally because of his footwork. when hes throwing on the run and doesn't have to drop back and set his feet hes got plenty of arm strength.

all of his issues are footwork related. clean that up and hes a good qb. cleaning footwork up is easier said than done though
