You do know the cops didn't magically appear. They were called and asked to press charges. If y'all want to be mad at anyone that he was arrested be mad at the casino for CALLING the cops instead of letting him go.

I'm not mad at anybody and I use the words the "cops" as a catch-all. The more appropriate term would have been "authorities". Whether the authorities involved were local PD, Sheriff's Office, Casino security or town constable, my point remains the same: While they did not have the duty to warn him and let him go, they certainly had the opportunity. I would still maintain that unless there were other extenuating circumstances we don't know about it would have been reasonable for them to warm him, kick him out and send him on his way.

Now, if he was disorderly, or drunk, or had drugs in his possession, or any number of other additional infractions I would not feel the same way.

Again, the authorities had every right to do what they did, but they also had the discretion to handle it a different way.

Yea there's a time and place for fake IDs. Not at a casino.

He should have been smarter than to use Will Clapp's ID though!

Does he not realize he is the brother of one of the most recognizable athletes LSU has ever had and by default he just can't roll into a BR casino with a fake ID. Certainly not the worst that he could have done to be arrested but not very smart on his part.

I bet you couldn't pick Lanard out of a group of five players.
I would imagine the fake ID didn't have his real name, either.

Rookie mistake. If you're trying to gamble with a fake ID, don't go to Lauberge, go to the Belle.

that petty of a crime they could have just gave him a warning

Ehhh they take that stuff very seriously. It's not like he was using a fake ID at a bar.

I'd say about 90% of LSU fans couldn't pick him out of a line-up. I know I couldn't.

What exactly constitutes "illegal gambling" in a casino?

Especially at Lauberge. I went a few weeks ago and they had two people stare at my ID then asked me for another form of identification.

First: a fake ID is not the same as "identity theft".
Second: this is where we are supposed to talk about how we lounge in the comfort of air conditioning while others labor in the summer heat;
Third: This case needs to be transferred to Ouachita Parish.

I snuck into 2 casinos when I was 18, and used a fake ID to get in a few times when I was 20. No big deal.
Until you get caught and arrested.
