It was mind-numbingly dumb. We just saw a team lose in a similar situation due to celebration (Carolina Panthers).

Bech hasn't had a great season. In fact, it would be hard to be viewed lower than he currently is. He could have made himself public enemy #1.

That's definitely not a flag worthy celebration

When JD scored the last TD they got down on a knee and gestured as if they had a camera to take pictures of JD. It was cool, but I guess others are worried it could have resulted in a penalty. Refs have called weird stuff in the past. I know Stetson dialed an imaginary phone after his score, so what. And yes, I know why he did it.

Refs have been letting go of non abnoxious celebrations this year. It also helped that JD ignored them.

Playing against Alabama everything is flag worthy.

Watch Daniels on that and he doesn't even acknowledge them, just high fives a few people and looks to the sideline for the 2 pt conversion playcall.

They don't even flag for spikes now, or at least not all that often. I remember CEH spiking it on his first TD against bama in '19 and was certain he'd get a flag. Used to be an automatic penalty.

It was when Jayden scored the TD in OT on first play. I saw it in the stadium and thought they were going to throw the flag but they didn’t do all is well.

I agree, stupid move in the situation. I’m sure Lacy got his arse chewed this week and it won’t happen again

I was afraid to post my thoughts for fear of being pummeled with downvotes, but that move by Lacey was dumb. (I thought it was Lacey alone.) This is not the NFL where it is allowed and somewhat promoted.

We could have been forced to go for one instead with the ball snapped at the 18 yd line.

A guy in the MAC game last night got ejected for spiking the football.

Sort of.

He already had one unsportsmanlike penalty, and then he picked off a pass early in the 4Q and spiked the ball after in celebration and received his second unsportsmanlike flag of the game.

Automatic ejection.

I have seen more and more players spiking the ball with NO penalty in college ball. If you look at the spikes they tend to be in the moment with emotion and no over the top exaggerated body language on the spikes.

They pretty much only call it for taunting these days. Remember we spent an entire season in 2019 griddying every time we scored

Or like when UGA’s entire team ran on the field
