re: Kudos to Steve Ensminger

"He caught a lot of flak as TE coach..." He certainly did. And look what his tight ends did when he became OC and not having CLM holding them down. We threw more to TEs in these last six games than we did in the last six YEARS. That was SE's fault, that was the head coach who seemingly overruled anything and everything.

Cam Cameron's plays wouldn't have broken 17 on Ole Miss, and it would have likely been a loss. Thank you Steve for being aggressive and calling basic pass plays

As we al know injuries are a very real possibility in football. I feel better knowing CSE is on the staff. If Canada goes down we will be in good hands.

When Miles was here if anyone was paying attention Ensminger seemed to be the only one on sidelines that had a clue what was going on, especially when it came to time management. Les would still be head coach if he had the sense to get out of way and let Steve run the offense.

Why would anyone downvote this? Ensmingers offense finally made LSU football fun again for most of the season. He was great and should be at LSU until he wants to retire.

He did a magnificent job except for Alabama. Great job and is not getting the praise he deserves.

At this time, no one on this staff knows LSU's offensive team better than Steve Ensminger. What an awesome asset to have to help Coach Canada make a swift transition to get all the pieces in place.
Now that's what I call a true Tiger! Thanks Coach Ensminger.

I know big money was probably scarce with the Miles buyout and bonus for CEO, but I personally thought Ensminger deserved a much larger bonus for effectively revising, upgrading, and managing the offense on his own without a lot of help - a tough task to manage "on the fly" and with so much pressure on all coaches to win out - $67k seems like chump change.

I absolutely agree with this. The main reason Coach Miles was fired was because his offense sucked, bad. Steve Ensminger changed that, immediately.
So many fans think what Ensminger did was easy, And so many would be wrong.
And I also agree he deserved more bonus money. Bringing the offense to life affected the whole team.
I for one am glad he's staying onboard.

He caught a lot of flack for his role as the TE coach.
Did you notice how much more we used our TE's once Ensminger took over as OC?

First of all, glad Canada is on board and surely hope Ensminger stays on as well.
Say what you want, downvote me as well, but I would not have panicked had the OC hire fell through and we were stuck with Ensminger. Again, I am glad we got Canada! But Ensminger could be the OC at a lot of big schools, as he has before, and we would have been a lot better off than we've been in years.
But Ensminger did a tremendous job and the paltry $75 g bonus he got should have been higher.

He interjected life into the offense.

Steve is a class act, and most people my age and older have a special place in our heart for him already as a QB for the Tigers. Bert Jones was my first hero at the helm for LSU, but Steve definitely places my second. He was a real competitor.

I didn't want Ensminger to get the full time job, but I have nothing but respect for the job he did in a tough spot. A lot of people around here dimissed the success that the team had with him in control of the offense, but we were in a situation where the wheels could have come off, no matter who was the coach. He definitely should be on this staff going forward, if he wants to be.

Guys keep saying stuff like this. He coaches at his Alma Mater. I would hope he was a Tiger.

Honestly, we will probably never in our lifetime see an OC break so many records as SteveE did in so few games. Thank you so much, sir.

Yep. Completing passes and making first downs and shite. That was awesome.

Great Tiger - when he leaves, it will definitely be a moment of sad nostalgia for me- I've told the story on here before, but before my first game in Tiger Stadium, October 1, 1977, I watched Steve Ensminger warm up as a quarterback. At the last game I watched in Tiger Stadium, I watched Steve Ensminger, as a coach, warm up with the quarterbacks.
Great bookend memories and kudos to a great Tiger.
