re: Kramer Robertson had the chance to go with Mulkey to Omaha and declined. He explains why.

I never compared KRob to either of those two. They are great hitters one of which isn’t at a premium defensive position and the other is the greatest LSU baseball player ever. But other than that, great argument.

You think he wasn’t cheering for the team?

AAA players make decent money. It’s not like he’s grinding out in single A. Austin Nola was 29 before he made his MLB debut.
He's not grinding it out at all. His mom is loaded and he's probably making 40-70K a year in AAA. Looking at his stats, he's a Sept callup or emergency replacement more than likely.
Always better to decide when to quit than be told continuing isn't an option.
Not a knock on him, he made it farther than 99.999% of people ever will

Not up to me to tell you what you don’t know before you make stupid posts.

Actual apparent serious replies in this thread criticizing Robertson for
a) watching at home because he cared too much and
b) grinding at AAA trying to become a big league regular

No, but I'm also sure most of those guys aren't flying back to their hometowns in between games. And I'm sure he doesn't live in some dump in BR either

The most enlightening part of Kramer's interview was how he said, "My mom called and said she 'has a plane' do you want to hop on and come with me."
I mean, doesn't everyone??

2017 was specifically difficult because of all the upperclassman that came back for their last season together to try to win it all. To come up just short of that will stay with you for a long long time.
And Walkers injury … and the slide out of the baseline to kill the rally in Game 2.
All of that is haunting and “what if” so I can get why it’s still hard. Honestly for Paul and Kramer I bet this team winning it all gives them a little bit of peace and will help them move on

I'm not criticizing at all. I'm saying he's getting close to the age where he's going to have to make a decision. If you look at his stats, he's not really progressing, and may actually be regressing at the plate. He does seem to be making progress in the field tho.

I thought we, as fans, hated that the players treat LSU athletics like a business and don’t care as much as we do.
Apparently Kramer caring so much to win a title at LSU that it still hurts 6 years later is now a bad thing to some posters.

Many go home when they can. Not sure what that has to do with the grind of Single A. As if he’s not working as hard or dealing with the days and travel that everyone else is.

Did you really just link a 14 year old Toby Keith song?
Posted on 6/30/23 at 8:57 am to ell_13
That would have meant even more to me as a former player to be there to watch them get revenge.

Someone explain the connection between Kramer and Mulkey? Never heard of this.
She is some sort of distant relative. Maybe an aunt or something. I heard about it once, long ago but not since.
