Really wish we could get rid of the foreign players so there’d be more room for American college guys.
Could you imagine how much more fun MLB would be if all the guys were either from college or straight out of HS?
It’s a huge turnoff for me that such a good portion of every roster can’t speak English.
What a horrible fricking take.

How so? Half of the rosters in AMERICA’S PASTIME are foreigners.
It would be much more fun to see Americans, mostly from college who have worked there way up. That’s part of the fun of pro football

Maybe the Americans should just get better.

Maybe the foreigners should play in their own countries.
Think of how many more guys from every school would make it to the show.
It would also make college baseball much more nationally relevant if that was the main talent pool.

He has only been in the minors four years. Thats not hanging around. Some of yo have no idea how difficult it is to make a MLB active roster and how many players go up and down as the club needs dictate.

You sound racist.. and I hate to break it you but that wouldn’t make college baseball nationally relevant.

It’s been an issue with me for a long time; I don’t like, as I said, America’s pastime filled with guys from south of the border.

You are actually right. But people can’t get away from the idea that MLB is the best of the best. They can’t even comprehend your suggestion for that reason.
But a league that is set up more like the NFL where players were farmed from colleges would actually be more popular.

Your understanding is incorrect. He gets a prorated amount per game. They aren't going to pay him $700K for two games. They are going to pay him ($700k/162) x 2. About $9k. His salary in the minors gets boosted by being on the 40 man roster, but that could happen without ever making the major leagues.
Is this a new policy, or has always been this way ?
The reason im asking is becuase i used to have a coworker who’s son was a professional baseball player.. he mostly played in the minors, but got called up for like 1 or 2 games and made the entire salary for one year, as if he had played the entire year in MLB.. although the minimum wasnt as high then as $700k, i belive this was 10 or 15 yrs ago.. Can anyone verify this is the way is used to be done ?

Well baseball isn’t just an American sport. It doesn’t work like the NFL, you really need to change your way of thinking

Thank you. The Latino influx is the worst thing to happen to MLB.
And it’s not just the players. Signed, Angel Hernandez.

At least he got an AB in the majors. Ask Moonlight Graham how special that is.
Back then I thought, "Well, there'll be other days". I didn't realize that that was the only day.

I was in the show. I was in the show for 21 days once - the 21 greatest days of my life. You know, you never handle your luggage in the show, somebody else carries your bags. It was great. You hit white balls for batting practice, the ballparks are like cathedrals, the hotels all have room service, and the women all have long legs and brains.

Yeah, he is a little fella.
He's was a good college baseball player but nowhere near the caliber of some of the great short stops we've had here.
Half of those "crazy" plays he made were because he was out of position in the first place.

It was not done that way in the early 90’s. Only time period I can speak to personally, however if you look, Mike Trout played in 40 games in 2011 and made 149,000, so it was prorated then as well.

He hit an infield grounder that resulted in a RBI. Not the worst thing that could have happened.

“But it was such a tragedy that you were only in the majors for a day !”
“No, the real tragedy would have been if I was only a doctor for a day.”
To me, One of the greatest dialogues in movie history.
