Why? He got an opportunity, albeit very brief, to do something 99% of baseball players never get to do their careers, play in a MLB game.

Hopefully he'll get another chance. But if not, he still probably accomplished his biggest dream in life. Not many of us can say that.

At least he got an AB in the majors. Ask Moonlight Graham how special that is.

exactly, and I think he's damn lucky to have had that cup of coffee, I'd have sure bet when he initially was drafted that he'd probably be out of baseball in a couple of years, more than likely never getting to, or certainly never above, AA

Hopefully he was there long enough to get a card in MLB The Show again.

What qualifies getting the league minimum? Appearing in a game?

He was put on the 40 man, which increases his minor league salary. But he doesn't get the MLB minimum all year. He gets the prorated amount for 2 games.

yep, that did him some good financially, minor league pay is some poverty level, indentured servitude type of pay, even worse with NIL now, college guys will be taking pay hits to go "pro"

Some players never get called up. Its still a significant achievement. He will get another shot, hes still a young player.

My understanding from knowing a few people that have had cups of coffee in the big leagues that if you are on the active roster for a game during the season that your pay bumps up to the league minimum for that season. you don't even have to play. That and if you are on the big league club for a month at any point during the year you get a World Series ring if they win it, even if you are not on the active roster for playoffs.

Do you know if his MLB card is available? Heck, his book "My One Day In The Majors" could also be a smash.

My only wish going forward is they let him get hot.

Your understanding is incorrect.

He gets a prorated amount per game. They aren't going to pay him $700K for two games. They are going to pay him ($700k/162) x 2. About $9k. His salary in the minors gets boosted by being on the 40 man roster, but that could happen without ever making the major leagues.

my guess as to why he's hanging around in the minors as long as he has is A: trying get out from mum's shadow, and 2: because she's at least partially funding him, minor leaguers make shite for pay

How many games do you have to be on the MLB roster to qualify for the league minimum even if you get sent down?

It is prorated. So he made $4,605 for every game he was active for. Now back to regular minor league salary. But I don't think KR has money issues.

You get the minimum for however many games you are on the MLB roster for.

ETA: It's kind of fricked up for starting pitchers that are kind of on the cusp. They'll get brought up for one start and sent back down, come up a couple weeks later and make another start and go back down. They'll end up with 50 innings pitched and 12 days of service.
