Frankly, I think what he said was spot on. What else can one say? We certainly can’t argue his views.

To quote Herbstriet “worrying about NIL, what round am I going in, or what’s in it for me”.

Seems like that has been an issue for a while now, save for the 2019 season. Probably because Burrow wouldn’t allow it.

Am I the only one who usually thinks that Herbstreit is dead on with what he is saying? It's rare that I actually disagree with what he says. Whether I want to hear it is a different story.

His assessment is a good one. His remarks are very favorable to LSU without dragging O through the dirt.

Says we’re one of the elite jobs in the country and the last two years have not been the LSU brand of football he’s accustomed to seeing.

Well he said some good things and I agree with him. Credit and respect to him.

"I just feel like this program got sideways after the '19 season,” he explained.I” think it became a little bit more about themselves, individually, and less about the (LSU) brand, less about the team. And that, Coach O is in charge. So it ultimately does have to fall on him
Herbstreit is correct, and the reason Orgeron has to go is because he's guilty of it himself.

That atmosphere and culture is coming top-down.

But if you just play that way, the way they have for decades, that's what — whoever the new coach is — he has to get back to, playing LSU Tiger football, and not worrying about NIL or what round am I going to be drafted or opting out or what's in it for me.

“But I just hope LSU can get back to just playing with a sense of pride to that state, for those colors, for that stadium, just for each other. You're not going to win every game. But if you just play that way, the way they have for decades, that's what — whoever the new coach is — he has to get back to, playing LSU Tiger football, and not worrying about NIL or what round am I going to be drafted or opting out or what's in it for me.”

At the moment, I think we're THE elite job in the country. Too many pro's to taking the job. If Saban retired tomorrow, we'd still be the elite job in the country. They'd just go back to being pre-Saban Bama.

We can all rag on Herby personally, but he is spot fricking on with everything he said.

And maybe a lot of these quote-unquote injuries and opt outs, maybe they got a chance to play some of the younger players — guys who actually wanted to play — and played with some desire and played with some pride.

Good thoughts by Kirk, Ed being shown the door is the best thing to happen to LSU football since they hoisted the NC trophy.
