He screwed up the game multiple times. When Ole Miss was out of timeouts you had to keep the clock running to ensure they wouldn't get the chance to win the game at the end.

Exactly. I've seen so many, my name for him is Kirby Not-S0-Smart.

Not having him at the end really limited them.
That's why McElroy said UGA should just keep it simple and run Stockton on the final 2 plays. Other than their last drive (with the help of PIs) stocton's vertical passing game was awful. Most of the passing yards came from screens with yards after the catch.

2nd and goal from the 2 and they lost 4 yards. 2 QB sneaks, or even QB keepers and they likely score.

2nd and goal from the 3.
Qb sneak 3 times. Even if they stop you and you have to kick field goal there is no time left and it goes to overtime

Not running the ball on 3rd and goal when OM was out of TO’s. If you don’t score, kick the FG with 20 seconds left.
Incredibly stupid to give that offense and that kicker 50 seconds.
Viewed through the prism of hindsight.
It was 3rd and goal from the 6. Georgia had run the ball on 1st and 2nd down, forcing OM to burn their last two TOs. The 3 yard loss on 2nd down changed the calculus. Running it in from 6 yards out would have been difficult. What you're suggesting is Georgia should have conceded the tie and not gone for the TD. A TD that would have put them up by 4 leaving Ole Miss forced to score a TD with ~1:00 and no TO's. If it were LSU in that situation and the HC chose to play for the tie instead of going for the win this board would have gone apoplectic.
Even with getting the tie, Georgia immediately forced Ole Miss into a 3rd & 5. If Ole Miss doesn't convert, Georgia is getting the ball back, with 3 TOs and a chance to drive for a GW FG. Ole Miss just made a great play to convert.

That last offensive play was dumb. I get wanting to score a TD but throwing the ball instead of running was not a wise choice. Run the ball and if don't get the TD, kick the FG with under 20 seconds to go. Go into OT and take chance there. Leaving 50+ seconds was a disaster.
Running there is pretty much going for OT instead of trying to get the win.
Going for the win was worth way more than the seconds they would have burned there. Just didn't work out.

It’s not hindsight to say it was a bad sequence once they got to 1st and goal.
QB run for a decent gain on 1st down, but a 4 yard loss on 2nd down. With Frazier out of the game that should have been another QB run. 2 QB runs from the 2 and UGA likely scores. That’s not hindsight, it’s common sense. Ole Miss couldn’t stop it earlier in the game and they were gassed at that point.
Once it was 3rd and 6 it should have been an easy completion (swing screen to RB or WR screen) or a one read option that Stockton hits only if it’s wide open, and tucks it to make something happen if not. It should have been hammered home to him that the ball CANNOT hit the ground and stop the clock.
It was poor playcalling, poor preparation and poor execution.

Wait - so Kirby should have settled for the FG to tie the game vs go for the win? His clock management before that play was bad but 10/10 coaches would have thrown the ball on the 3rd down play.
No. You run the ball on that play and take control of the end of the game. They were at the 5-6 yd line it’s not like running isn’t trying to win. If you don’t convert, you can choose to take another shot or an easy FG while you let the clock burn

I personally would’ve just run a bubble screen to Branch and tell him to stay inbounds
That’s basically the same thing as a QB/HB draw with the risk of stopping the clock on a bad pass.
UGA had the upper hand and basically folded it. I would have had no problem going to OT with them going in with 10 unanswered points
