Revisit Daniels year 1 and the first 3 games of year 2.
Kelly threatened to bench him bc he refused to throw into coverage and had 2 of the top 6 wide receivers in the NFL today on his team.
Leavitt came in in the summer with only a fall practice.
He was sacked a ton for holding onto the ball too long and completed about 68% of his passes with FAR bigger and better targets. Go look at the game log.
He lost that Tenn game at home sitting there taking 5 sacks.
That game cost LSU plus playing shitty vs UGA. He’ll, Nuss outplayed him.
Season 1 Daniels had the Bama win AT home. LSU had 1 game on the road that he didn’t show up for TAMU and lost which he wasn’t sacked in. He couldn’t beat them with his arm.
Look at his QBR after Ms St against good teams for the money.

Both Joe and JD had a rough 1st year, but not this rough. The ints and 3 & outs are going to limit the D.

after year one JD5 spent all summer throwing to Malik and working in the QB VR Trainer on anticipation throws
then in year two he exploded because the game slowed down for him, he said it himself repeatedly and credited Joe Sloan with working with him daily
Chambliss is so experienced the game is in slow motion, for Leavitt it looks like the game is going to fast. The throw to 44 is a perfect example, just set your feet and put the ball on a back up TE
LSU got to Chambliss in the 3rd when they mixed things up and sped up the game, unfortunately using things like safety blitzes are not sustainable, and Chambliss adjusted.
this is the first real QB coaching Leavitt has received, at ASU he ran around like a methed up squirrel. that wont get you drafted in the NFL and it wont cut it in SEC

It’s obvious that Leavitt just doesn’t trust himself in this offense right now. He’s not letting go of the throws when he sees them. He’s also pressing way too much right now.
The good news is both of these things are correctable. The more he plays in this offense, the more comfortable he’ll get.
The question is how many losses does LSU get before that happens.

I can't folks expected Levitt to come in be Burrow 2.0. The guy was injured for a long period and had horrible coaching along his journey. He will get better but he is not NFL ready. Levitt is more like Daniels 2.0.

SIDE ARM SAM CANT MAKE THE THROW TO # 4 BECAUSE THE OM DB IS WHERE HIS SIDE ARM RELEASE POINT IS. HE LOOKS PAST THE THROWS HE CANT MAKE EVEN IF PLAYER IS OPEN.

It's always the same thing with you guys - year after year after year. One loss and everyone is screaming for the backup. You get your wish then you're screaming for someone else.
Just relax... it's one game and he's getting his footing under him. His first (and potentially last) year in the SEC - he's never faced teams like this on a weekly basis.
And if you think about it - he hasn't built a level of trust with the receiving corp to throw up a 50/50 ball. He will get us through this year - we'll make the playoffs and have a new QB next year.

LEAVITT HAD 3 games and no summer really.
Daniels still wouldn’t throw into coverage the first couple games including a loss to start the season.
Daniels ate 41 or so sacks in 2022. Most were on him.
He wasn’t good at all except running - sound familiar?
Unless LSU gets some stud receivers that can’t be jammed at the LOS or are tall and fast enough to break down defenses, all QBs will be limited.

He will probably be crazy good next year. But I think this year is going to be a work in progress. That’s the way it’s been for most LSU quarterbacks in the last 10 years.
