Don't care that we made it - that was a stupid decision. I think we can all agree. Any other coach would have gone for it with 4th and less than a yard. You try to get more yards with a new set of downs, make it easier on your kicker, and end the game with little to no time left.

We gave Auburn another good chance to win it - and had we missed, you guys all would have been calling for Coach Yaw to be fired, AGAIN.

Such a low percentage call, and he got lucky. Sounds like nothing has changed with firing Les - we're going to still see the same bonehead decisions over and over.

What if we didn't convert? Our running up the middle wasn't exactly blowing Auburn away all game.

Then Auburn has the ball with 2 minutes and no need to throw the ball. 2 first downs from there ends the game

Really?
Let your anti-O shades come off for a second and see that the way our defense was playing made the safer bet the best descision. Auburn barley got any first downs, much less any points, in the second half. Also, considering that we only had 1 TO left, if we didnt get the 1st down, Auburn could melt down the rest of the clock. Game Over

Yes. Given the amount of time left on the clock and how we were moving the ball all game. You move the ball closer and make it easier on your kicker, every time. Every analyst agrees.

Sorry that you guys don't watch football much.

Agree completely. If we remember O's mindset prior to that kick..."we have no kicker".

If he believes his own mantra, why not go for it on 4th and a foot? Why leave the entire game in a hands of a kicker that you have 0 faith in?

Simply stated, Culp saved his arse.

ETA - i'm not saying it was a bad decision...im saying it doesnt make sense, based on O's prior statements. it went precisely against what he had led us to believe.

Our Oline was improved but look what their dline did on the goal line before the first score. The auburn dline could have easily stuffed guice up the middle

You know the other team is actively trying to stop them from "moving the ball closer", right? It's called playing defense.

We weren't exactly crushing short yardage situations all game.

If it wasn't 4th down, sure. We weren't guaranteed to pick up that yard though. When you're down 2 close to the end of the game, you kick that FG every time.

Especially when your defense is destroying the other team.

YEa, that's bullshite.

I thought that too at first but I listened to the radio broadcast and the announcer said it was smart to use the timeout so as not to rush the snap. I can see that.

We weren't really moving the ball great in the second half. I'm not sure we would have picked it up. Kicking it was the right call. You have to give your kicker a chance. 42 yards is something a kicker has to be able to make

I'm gonna have to go ahead and say prove it. What analyst wouldn't opt to take the lead with the only chance you are guaranteed to have?
