Yeah, well why don't you use a city in your own state that you are likely much more familiar with to show that gulf and maybe you know folks there who can paint a more accurate picture than featuring someone who really cannot and who obviously does not like Brian Kelly and is not at all objective (Collis Temple)?

The football program is not why black people are poor in north Baton Rouge.

Exactly.
Does he think that if LSU didn’t pay their football coaches so much, this money would somehow end up in the hands of the local poor?

The whole article was a campaign add for Gravy Williams. He initiated it. Collis Temple is the only racist in that story and the real scumbag that used is political connections to become a slum lord and get government contracts. Jim Barhard/JBE are the real problems at LSU because they put Collis there in the first place, because Barnhard couldn't be on the BOS and win the physical plant contract at LSU.

The Main "young black man" was a convicted drug dealer and was trying to raise a family on a graduate student stipend and student loans (which are probably already forgiven). He had not accepted that he caused his own problems. This is about wasted potential it wasn't about the economic disparity in Baton Rouge. His example made bad choices and was paying the price. As a felon, how did he qualify for all the student aid? The article is bullshite and the guy got played by Temple and Gravy. Their best example was a felon.

Kelly was there so Collis Temple could show that he was calling the shots. The Author and the people at the WP useful idiots in LA politics. Elections have consequences. We will be paying for JBE and his cronies for years to come.

This guy is truly a POS. I hate the over pay that these coaches are getting as much as anyone, but it was a hit piece and anyone with a brain knows it.

What does LSU football, paid for mostly by fan donations have to do with issues in the state?

Is he trying to be some kind of MLK for the poor black kid? Did he care before when he exploited them to make money off his shitty book? Did he donate all proceeds from his book to help at risk youth?

Kelly’s contract was not even the biggest in the conference for goodness sake, much less the country when multiple were above him including Riley who just went to USC.

Again, a pretentious writer trying to act like he knows shite about Louisiana and its problems because he wrote a book about high school football.

Every honest person knows why the woke leftist Washington Post is doing a story on Mulkey, and it’s all because of her political and social views and nothing else.
But don’t ever expect any liberal to admit their true intentions. They lie without conscience.

Which is why it was a hit piece on Kelly and on lsu and why Kim didn’t care to take time out of her schedule to sit down with him.

Not to be an a-hole but having lived most my life in Baton Rouge Louisiana I do not like it when others speak poorly about my city. I can speak bad about it but not someone else. Baton Rouge has flaws like any place but for the most part the people are embracing people and everyone wants to better it. And to be honest LSU Sports is something the entire community can wrap around.

So frick you Kent Babb write about your own town and leave the good place of Baton Rouge alone and all the people in it.

I read the article a few days ago after KM referenced it.

The article could have been set anywhere in America without losing context and he could have used a rich black coach as his example of prosperity*. He seems to have a hard-on for LSU, LA sports, LA economic disparity and racism in LA. That said, it isn't a hit piece on Brian Kelly.

If he really releases his hit piece on KM, I hope there is at least one blatant lie that she can use to sue his arse for defamation.

Or the fact that a successful LSU football program is enormous for the economy of both LSU and Baton Rouge, a city made up of majority black people. We could pay less for a football coach, be less successful, and have a weaker economy and fewer jobs for Baton Rouge residents.

A lot of black people make good bank in various jobs on football weekends in Baton Rouge. Writers like Babb create a narrative and spin their stories to fit their agenda.
