Damn that's a shame. We never got to see him reach his potential. I hope he decides to stick around

Man, he was all FS in my opinion.

Would've been a solid one next year after Delpit left.

Maybe he wanted corner and Stingley is just too damn good (with Ricks coming next year)? Maybe it was grades?

Wow - kind of a surprise - maybe there is something to the academics part. Hope he stays but maybe he thinks our secondary is getting pretty crowded.

a guy may not be happy being a backup, so he enters the portal in an effort to force his coach to start him, give him more minutes, etc.

That could be the thought process but that's dumb. Coaches are going to play the guys who they think best help the team win. Those coaches like their salaries and those salaries are dependent upon Ws.

It also may just be reactionary kids getting angry and making a rash decision.

More likely. That or it is the result of feedback from the coaches that you aren't going to start.

It's my understanding they don't have to get approval from a coach to "enter the portal".

Correct.

Did he have his quantum realm suit on? That quantum realm energy can be a bitch if not.

LSU does still have too many scholarship players.

Because we took moffit, moss and A juco tieght end over the years.

This is why we are having arguments about how many dL do we take over OL. Now we are moving second string dbu’s off the team to make room for guys that don’t play.

Irresponsible offers at other positions.

I like the idea of presumptively pulling their scholly if they are just testing waters. If there is some hardship or other factor not bearing on loyalty to LSU, the coach has discretion to exempt the player and allow him to keep scholly for a period of time til it sorts out.

This transfer portal / free agency in college athletics is the beginning of the end. We have seen the peak of major college football and basketball.

Unless there are things that make him unplayable, I wouldn't think a guy in the 2 deep would be a scholly limit casualty.

Scholly limit casualties seem to come from players who are either:

A) habitually suspended for some reason (grades, behavior, attitude)

Or

B) upperclassmen that have given no indication that they are capable of playing at that level.

I love how Miami, Florida and OU fans are all tagging their coaches in their comments to the tweet.

It's like they think those coaches staffs don't already know.

You think we forced this move? We didn't want to lose Joseph, this is his decision.

I agree 100%. But college coaches are always in an interesting juxtaposition. They spend years telling a recruit just how great he is and how he's going to help make the program a championship level program. THEN, once the guy signs it reverts back to survival of the fittest.

At 15, 16, 17 years old you are told you are the greatest player to ever wear a uniform. Then, the moment you sign you are told to "prove it" or sit on the sidelines. Some kids can't accept such a sudden change and be willing to earn what the coaches promised them in the recruiting phase.
