You are disagreeing with yourself. “Daniels has the pole position, because Kelly has already selected him as first string. Of course, if the first string QB starts performing poorly he could get replaced.

So he’s disagreeing with himself, I wonder who wins the argument?

Daniels until Kelly is comfortable with the O line. If the O line shows they can be average to good and QB mobility isn’t needed as much to escape pressure, he will give Nuss plenty of in game opportunity, unless Daniels is just killing it. If the O line is not able to consistently protect, it will likely be a heavy dose of Daniels unless he plays poorly on top of the O line issues (bad picks, fumbles etc)

This is a very logical approach. But what if he names Nuss? Does that then imply Kelly’s enormous faith in LSU’s rebuilt Oline?

Said as a HC you know very soon but want them competitive and thinking they don’t know.

Anyone that thinks a HC doesn’t know a week before a game is crazy
this is correct. The coaches can see very quickly what each guy can do. It ain't rocket science. It's obvious to any decent coach, very soon, what a guy's strengths and weaknesses are. It doesn't takes months of analysis.

They had all of spring and now a lot of fall camp. They know what Daniels and Nuss can do, and they know who their starter is.

Logic says it will be Daniels

It hasn’t been decided and the reps prove it. You don’t split reps and alternate equal time with the 1s if you have your starter especially when he’s a new starter. You’d want someone going into his first year with your offense to get as many reps as possible. You guys keep ignoring what the coaches have said since the beginning of camp which is that they’ll announce as soon as they have one but the comp could continue until the week of FSU.

Both guys will play next weekend.
Daniels will start but I imagine Kelly will want to run some packages for Nuss.

Either way I see both of them getting playing time this fall unless Daniels just blows it out of the water

Yeah, I think it would imply he anticipates them holding up well. Assuming Nuss hasn’t greatly separated himself from Daniels in Kelly’s eyes thus far.

The Rant is sort of like our national media, they ignore whatever doesn’t fit their way of thinking.

One QB will start, both will play, at least for the next several games
I agree with this. Coaches know there's a difference between practices and games.

Look at LSU's own history... Josh Booty consistently outperformed Rohan Davey in practice. That's why he played ahead of him for over a season. Rohan got on the field in live games, and it became apparent he was a different animal when the lights were on.

LSU is not getting through all season with just one QB starting, the SEC is too tough for a running QB to make it through a whole season
People are overstating this. The SEC is good, but it's not the NFL.

And honestly, a good mobile/running QB can win in the NFL, too. The problem is, he won't hold up over time; but we're talking multiple seasons, not games. Running QBs are broken about the time they hit 30, while pocket QBs are just entering their prime at that age. You want Drew Brees instead of Michael Vick, because Brees will be your QB a decade after Vick retires.
That is NOT an issue in college, you only have Daniels for 2 more years at the most.

With Kelly's reputation for changing QBs mid season, it's probably only a temporary announcement.

Most LSU fans won’t be critical of Kelly when plays two QB’s, most will agree with the strategy. The real meltdowns will come when fans disagree with his timing.
