shite, I didn't realize Curt Cignetti is 64 years old. I was thinking maybe 8 years younger. I don't have a problem with Kelly, he needs to get the OL and Nuss to play better.

He'd be a lot hotter name if he wasn't already 64 years old.

This is also a reason I think Kelly is not a real consideration. Anyone who is considering BK would also consider Cignetti and I suspect go with Cignetti first because he is making a little bit less and it would probably be an easier get.

I get blake baker is a good defensive coach. But what makes him the best candidate for the head coach at Lsu?

There's a lot of different versions of coaches that succeed as HC. We're seeing that the top teams in the country right now are all coached by former elite coordinators who are in their first stop as HC:
Ryan Day
Dan Lanning
Kirby Smart

Then there's these guys from the next tier that's having some recent success:
Joey McGuire
Brent Key
Marcus Freeman
Clark Lea
Brent Venables

Now look at the NFL first time HCs:
Sean Mcvay
Kevin O'Connell
Nick Sirianni
John Harbaugh
Kyle Shanahan
Sean McDermott
Matt Lafleur
Dan Campbell
Mike Tomlin
DeMeco Ryan's
Ben Johnson

Now look at all the old retreads that get recycled from team to team.

Idk have you? It seems pretty clear you're better off swinging for the fence on an up and coming coordinator than hiring some retread

Indiana has the most all-time losses in the history of FBS and haven’t won a bowl game since 1991. They were 3-9 the year before Cignetti took over and brought them to the playoffs and won the coach of the year award in his first year and now in his second year has the best win of the season so far and has Indiana sitting at #3, their highest ranking in program history.

All that to say dude is an already a legend at Indiana and at his age making his salary I don’t think he has any intentions of leaving to go anywhere. They have a cakewalk to the playoffs in the B1G and enough NIL. Their football program apparently is 12th nationally in NIL spending after a quick google search. He doesn’t need to go to Penn State to compete

Penn St ain’t getting anyone proven

They just fired a guy that was in the semis last year.

In today’s portal era, a coach worth a big time job won’t take a job where you can get canned that quick.

lol

They have a ridiculously easy schedule in the Big10 and just paid a guy 50+ mill to leave

Coaches will be lining up around the block for that job. Of the big schools in the two "main" conferences, PSU has the easiest path of almost anyone

I am not advocating for Blake baker when our current head coach is 5-1 and #10 in the country. :)

remember when everyone wanted Aranda to be named HC in waiting. Im not saying Baker wouldn't make a good HC but damn yall are quick to name new coaches...with no HC experience

No shite, right?

Here’s a crazy idea: hire an experienced head coach that has proven that he can win in a P4 conference. That’s how LSU got Saban.

All a HC needs to be is a good manager like a CEO.

That’s it? That’s really all? All a QB has to be is a good decision maker, like Tom Brady. Plenty of those hanging around.

Except that you just cherry picked the exceptions, and listed the small number of coordinators that made good HCs.

Where is your list that includes Aranda, Mike Gundy, DeShaun Foster, Pry, Bray, etc etc etc.

No chance Penn St hires BK. His resume is worse than the Coach they just fired
