The DL either. That was the bedrock of the Miles teams. Throw the ball? Nah, but we'll bludgeon you to death in the run game, and we'll probably hurt your QB, even if he's a Heisman winner.

So is BK better than Coach O? One has a national title in 3 years and one doesn’t have one at all. Could you make an argument?

can't think of a metric other than total wins where Kelly outshines Kiffin and Kelly has been coaching for probably 15 years more.

To be fair.... before coming to lsu Kelly had always taken over a shite program and made it better within 3-5 years.

He started coaching in 1983 and before lsu he had never been fired or pushed out of a job. That's pretty crazy considering the turnover in cfb coaching.

quote:

Cinci three seasons before Kelly
7-5
4-7
8-5

Kelly gets to cinci
10-3
11-3
12-1

Notre Dame before Kelly
3-9
7-6
6-6

Kelly gets to ND
8-5
8-5
12-1

Coach O has never proven be can run a consistently good program.
Except for lsu and ole miss no ad thought enough of his coaching to offer him a DC position, let alone HC.

Miles still deserves his credit for the
Level of success and talent he brought here over his tenure.

Turning around programs that play teams like Stanford, navy and Purdue every week isn’t all that impressive.

How many Ole Miss players have been drafted so far? I’m glad we have Kiffin but draft picks isn’t the best argument

Thought I saw an article the other day saying LK has had more players draftees the last 5 years than any other coach was. Some stat like that. He’s was pretty successful getting players drafted at ole Miss.

You still would've had an offensive line that couldn't block shite.

I think it falls more on development. He had a Heisman winner so you can't really say he didn't have talent.

I'm not sure how much he had to with Daniel's recruitment and he had little to do with his development.

If not for Daniel's and inheriting two first round wide receivers in Nabers and Thomas, Kelly would have been an epic failure.

Kelly was lazy, arrogant, out-dated and out of touch with his players. Combine that with his terrible coaching hires and it was catastrophe waiting to happen. His Grand Valley State championship pedigree meant nothing. His success at Cincinnati similarly meaningless and his record at ND was padded by service academy wins, the dregs of B1G like Purdue and weak ACC competition.

It’s not just LSU it’s the whole SEC. How many SEC players were taken in the first round? Not many. We have a problem in this new money ball era of CFB. The Big Ten schools have a lot more money than the SEC schools and it’s not close. I just hope and pray LSU’s portal haul this year will begin to turn the tide in our favor. We are definitely going to need these homo lib journalists pocket watching LSU to get a frickin life.

Don’t matter.. what he did in 2019 has never been done by any other former LSU coach. So If winning a championship is the measure stick, why not? I have to think with the mass exodus of coaches coupled with Covid year it made it really hard. You can talk about coach O at Ole Miss all you want but other than Johnny Vaught, and Lane Kiffin what other coaches have had success at an elite level. I would have liked to see what BK would have done after COVID.
