They’re not awful, they’re just ignorant. LSU converted 13 3rd downs yesterday and for the season, leads the SEC in 3rd down conversion percentage.

it's not difficult to understand it all. Can't believe you're making me say it but the guys behind him are not good. It's that simple. Nothing else to it.

LSU is like #7 in the country in third down conversions.

LSU is leads the SEC and is 7th nationally in 3rd down conversions. Nuss is completing 67.9% on third down with a passer rating of 143.01 and is the 5th highest rated passer nationally on 3rd down. Thank you for outing yourself as another clueless poster.

Au contraire mon frere-- Garrett Nussmaier has been the one keel of stability this team has. In LSU's six wins, Nussmeier's quick releases and accurate throws consistently pulled this team out of the fire.

Nussmeier is by no means the weakest link in this chain.

They're actually elite on third down, it's shocking. I'm assuming the majority of the time, we're in third and long.

Do you not realize that the backups just aren't very good? It's the same reason Jardin Gilbert, Major Burns, DJ Chester, and Paul Mubenga haven't been replaced.

No it's really not. We have known this since before the season started that the backup quarterbacks are not ready to play.

This is the only conclusion you can make.

He has always went with the more mobile option at QB when possible.

I'm sure having a dad that is an NFL QB coach plays some part in his decision, but it is impossible to quantify just how much his lack of mobility handicaps every aspect of this offense.

Nuss turns the ball over. The third down conversion talk is deceiving because a lot of our drives end with a turnover, or no points or fieldgoals instead of touchdowns. Moving the sticks does not matter if you're not scoring, or not scoring enough.

I always liked Nuss but he has had his chance at this point. Let's see what Rickie Collins can do. It might come down to a situation like the 2016 Jax State game where it took all of TS booing the offense to force Les to replace Brandon Harris with Danny Etling. Sometimes the HC refuses to make the change, and the fans have to force the issue.

Sloan needs to stick with short passes(maybe some slip screens) to get the ball out of Nuss' hand quickly since the OC is struggling and Nuss tends to panic as a result and make bad decisions/throws

Collins is third string at best. AJ Swann is the backup.

it bothers me that Kelly has not turned to the backup QB's for a change.

Bc the backup qb's are always the answer right. It is amazing that fans think a highly successful (or any) coach would not play the guy they think gives them the best chance of winning. What have you seen of the backups that makes you think they would have more success and put us in a better position to win than Nuss.

The second half offense was ABYSMAL vs Florida

The offense had only scored two tds in 9 quarters up to that point(taking away the bama TD against the backups)

You have to give a different QB one drive. Have to. Hell freaking Sark did it with damn Ewers

Your post is 1000% correct. People keep screaming for Nuss to step up into the pocket, when all Nuss sees when he wants to step forward is 2 DL and/or a LB right in his face. The outside DE rushers are forcing the play inside where LSU is the weakest. 66 and 50 are ok at forcing the outside rushers outside and past Nuss, but when the rush comes up the middle (which is what the defense is creating) then Nuss tries to turn outside and get out of the folding pocket, the DE's are outside waiting for him.
When Dellinger went down, so did our offense, and you can believe that Vandy and Okla will do the very same thing because they are keenly aware that our coaching staff has not answers. They just keep running the same running plays into our weak OL area and throwing deep pass patterns that take seemingly forever to come open, and by then Nuss is scrambling his a$$ off.
It is true that Nuss has not been a great scrambler, but his is clearly one of the best passers in college football if he is given any time at all to throw.
There are few qb's that could succeed in our situation.....we just remember JD, one of a kind QB, that was able to do that like no other...and they compare Nuss to that. It is simply not realistic.

No

This is what we have done the last 3 games.

It works between the 30s and we're left with long FGA's, even winning TOP (time of possession)

If we don't score from outside of the Red Zone, we ain't scoring.

He needs to take his chances between the hashes on big plays, and even when we get a big play that is tackled inside the 5, we frick that up too

Not disagreeing with you, but this is my concern for most positions. We don’t do the little things right. Executing fundamental football. Nuss isn’t the only player guilty of this and that’s where I’d look to coaches to enforce that. I feel like that’s a missing culture piece.

and yet you didn't mention why he doesn't step up into a pocket, that is being raped up the middle of the OL with pathetic interior OL play, didn't mention we are completely one dimensional which makes it impossible to beat a good defense, and lack a run game to be balanced, and have wrs that are just average and have attitude problems....not to mention a horrible scheme and terrible play calling. But, carry on placing blame on Nus.

Calm down, Mrs. Nussmeier.
