It's hilarious that I had to literally tell him I was trolling him for him to figure it out.

Mason Smith is big. Usually lines up on the center or between guard and tackle. Seems slow.

Masson was the first player I thought of when Kelly said get bigger. Any bigger, and players will have to help Masson to the sideline. LSU needs more strength along the Dline, is a weight and conditioning coach a problem as well?

This is the slowest D that I can remember.

I’d bet that’s not true. One of our LBers is the fastest in LSU history and Greg Penn has good speed. Our DEs have good speed and so do our DTs.

The corners are probably a step slower than we are used to, but that’s nothing you are going to notice, and our safeties are probably faster than the average for LSU. This is not a slow defense, even though the rant is going to agree with you 3 to 1 at least.

I read the same thing as well, was either posted here or in The Advocate about LSU having speed at linebacker and DE’s. That was supposed to be what was going to help LSU’s secondary this season, getting to the quarterback. But they miss so many tackles and are often out of position. We all have seen the missed tackles, and Kelly was the one repeating how they often don’t maintain their gap responsibilities.

If it isn't money, what would you attribute this too?

Reliford committed before LSU offered. Are we attributing this to money?

FYI, I don't blame LSU wanting him at camp prior to an offer

How would you find him?

BC, it’s not hard for anyone to find out who someone is or where they live if they hire the right lawyer. I learned that when someone tried to list my business as closed on Google because I wouldn’t advertise my business with them. It never happened again.

As if we needed more proof that you created an alter to take up for yourself.

I disagree on Penn. He doesn’t have great lateral speed. Part of the problem with Speights is that he injured his hip. He may have come back, but he won’t be fully over that until after the season. He’s definitely slower than he could be fully healthy. Savion Jones is also on the slow side now that he’s bulked up.

That said, I do agree with your premise for the majority of the defensive players. It’s less that the players are slow and more that they are playing a read and react scheme that they don’t fully understand. Playing passive and reacting too slowly will make any player seem slower than he really is.

There are more things to fix than just this, but I think we will see a big difference in playing speed if the new DC switches us to an attacking, or at least a less reactive scheme.

And Kelly hasn’t been playing Weeks who does have lateral movement.

Maason Smith is not getting drafted, dude. He’s horrible and has been pushed around by every college offensive lineman he has gone against.

I can’t imagine seeing an NFL team use one of their draft picks on him. I’ll believe it when I see it.

If he goes anywhere it’ll be in the transfer portal. But I don’t see Masson doing that.
