The Advocate - Once the transfer portal opens and the stretch run for the 2024 recruiting class begins, LSU has a couple positions to address. One of them, coach Brian Kelly said Monday is defensive tackle.

“That position in itself, the defensive line, interior help, is where we are looking to help our football team, “ he said Monday. “We think we’re in pretty good position at the edge of our defense. We need to get bigger. I think the defensive tackle position will probably be the area that you’ll see us move aggressively.”

TTT- Would like to see Kelly move aggressively on a defensive coordinator and a linebackers coach as well.

Serious question man, why do you feel the need to make a post every single time an inkling of a thought pops into your head?

If the new coach runs a 3-4 defense, we need some big bodies to run the nose.
320-340 lbs

This is The Advocate’s article regarding LSU’s defense, which most of us want to know about, it’s not anything that popped in my head. Seriously, f#### off!

Agreed. We should be good at EDGE with Swinson and Womack/ Howard. Jones and Shand will play SDE I think. LB might be good as is with Weeks/ Penn/ Perkins next year, along with Brathwaite and a really strong Freshman class.

Corner may also be good with Toviano/ Zy along with Stamps, Welch, JK Johnson, Hughes, and 3 Freshman.

I’m not sure about Safety. Burns will likely be back and Yates has done pretty well. We’ll also have Kyle Jackson, Sage, and Jordan Allen.

DT next year should include: Maason, Guillory, Hill, West, Lee, Langston, along with 1-2 Freshman. I think we need to add Shone Washington along with 1-2 quality guys to compete for a starting role here.

An elite linebacker and new linebacker coach would be a nice addition too.

Yes please. Top two la. Dts got paid more by A&M . LSU needs to get at least one of these guys back.

Would be nice to have better play at middle linebacker. The loss of Baskerville has been one of the biggest differences between this year and last.

Don’t disagree but secondary is a pretty scary situation right now. I think that might be the highest priority based on what I’ve seen on the field unless I’m misreading the context.

What is really concerning is we have guys behind Guillory and Smith but they must really be a long way from playing if he’s concerned about their size. Man our defensive talent really went into the shitter.

When Kelly built LSU’s great offense he started with the Oline. And it has been impressive. Now to build a great defense, he is starting with the Dline. Of course more pieces are needed, elite play at linebacker and elite coaching on defense. It’s happening.

Dude is going to go pro even after a bad year.

I would not count on him.

He will get drafted higher than he should just based on potential

But the rant said Kelly is satisfied with the defense and here he is saying otherwise in the only way he can say it publicly

Maybe he read the rant ?

I think secondary is in a better position than DL. JK Johnson will be back next year along with Zy Alexander. Throw in Toviano and were pretty solid. A good pass rush/penetration can make mediocre CBs great...

He should never play meaningful snaps at LSU again. If he does, we have failed at managing our roster. Stiff as a board, can't tackle, can't find the ball in the air.

and a linebackers coach as well

So you don't think Coach Penn is doing a great job as LBer coach?
