He’s throwing the “race card” out there saying he was called a bad name.....requesting an NCAA waiver

If this is the case he would probably be better off going somewhere else.

They really haven't let him do anything this year. That's what puzzles me. It's like one read and tuck. Everyone was just stacking against the run by the end if the season

Do you go FCS and sling it or FBS and sit and learn a system?

He still has a redshirt year available and three years of eligibility. No chance he goes FCS.

He’s going to Oklahoma or Penn St.

Bigger question is whether LSU can go after their recruits by using this against them. Plumlee is committed for baseball and football. That is a perfect guy for LSU to go after now. There are chinks in the Smart armor. We should be taking advantage. Guarantee Florida, South Carolina, Clemson and others are.

He can transfer to any school he wants and can’t be blocked. He would however have to sit out a year but he can NOT be blocked from any school. This is from the NCAA page....... Currently, NCAA rules require athletes who have not graduated to sit out a season after they transfer to a new school. ... Starting Oct. 15, athletes will no longer have to ask for permission to transfer from their current schools and schools cannot block transfers or dictate where they go.Oct 5, 2018

I have a dumb question: Does "sit out" mean they aren't even on the team/practicing? or does it mean they can practice, but not play in games. Seems like playing in juco would be better than sitting out totally, but practicing and not playing would be better outlook to start the following year.

If we got Fields and Fields beat him, Brennan wouldn't play. That's the narrative we are talking about. Purely hypothetical but possible.

It also plays into the narrative that LSU cannot develop quarterbacks, which has yet to be proved false by the current coaching staff. If the current trend continues and with the talk of bringing in a transfer quarterback(already developed), Brennan's days at LSU could be running out. We'll see next year from Next Year U.

the thought of LSU trying to groom and develop a qb from the ground up is scary.

ESPN reported last night that he's "exploring" a transfer and hasn't decided yet.

Georgia had Eason, Fromm and Fields. That’s an insane haul.

Thats why I don't get the decision made by Fields to go to UGA. I get the "I am the man in high school, and I can go to UGA and be the man there too..." line of thinking, but you have to look at their lineup and realize. Barring a season ending injury, you weren't going to outplay Fromm. And at the time, they still had Eason on the roster, even though he was transferring. Why not go somewhere else, where you have a better chance at playing earlier, since that's what this is about.

the qb situation at LSU was much more attractive for fields when he signed/committed to UGA.

what could have been.

Why would he go to an SEC school? Having to play against SEC defenses v. big 12 or PAC 16 or even Big 10? Hard for an SEC QB.

Shocking that any decent QBs come to SEC. Same reason DBU is LSU, Florida and Bama. Hard for DBs to make it in the big 12.

I noticed the headline didn't match the actual body content in the story.

Eta: Just saw the headline has been fixed.
