I was really puzzled why he would want to go there in the first place. I guess if you really love the competition, but your competition is against someone that went all the way to the National Championship game. That's a pretty strong uphill battle. Not saying LSU would have been the best place for him (I would have loved it if he came here), but we literally had a wide open door for him to come and compete for the job. Only one QB on our roster had some decent live game experience. I'm sure there were plenty of other schools that could have fit that bill as well.

If a player has graduated they do not have to sit out a year. Example is Joe Burrow

He can transfer to any school he wants and can’t be blocked. He would however have to sit out a year but he can NOT be blocked from any school. This is from the NCAA page.......

We should at least try to gauge if he's interested. He's too good a talent to not try to get. Bonus, Burrow will graduate the year he becomes eligible to play. Job will be open. He can beat Brennan I'm. Could be a program changing type talent at QB which has been our Achilles heel.

Yes, you are right they call it the Saban. Saban tried to block a player from transferring to a certain SEC school.

Brennan is up to get plenty of playing time when Burrow leaves or if, God forbid, Joe gets hurt next year. Coach O has already said that Brennan is a championship caliber player who has a good future here. I don't know where this narrative that he won't play comes from.

If we got Fields and Fields beat him, Brennan wouldn't play. That's the narrative we are talking about. Purely hypothetical but possible.

I'd be as happy as a rat in the rafters if he makes it here. He'd be a blessing even in an Ensminger directed offense, but moreso when we get (fingers crossed) our new coordinator.

What a dick.

Anyway, O is sitting in a good spot here. Burrow will be a senior and he has a RS-Soph with some experience behind him and a cannon for an arm. If Fields wants in, you give him a look. If not, we ride with Myles in 2020 (depending our championship).

What's the pitch that the head football coach makes to Fields?

Every program is going to pitch playing time.

Am I the only one who is curious to know why he'e leaving? A guy with his physical ability should have gotten on the field more even with an experienced starter in front of him. With these QBs playing younger and younger and him not having more packages, even if its a few, you'd think he'd have more of an impact.

He was hyped as much as, if not more, than Trevor Lawrence. The coaches must've indicated to him that he was not gaining in the playing time department and that's why he leaving... if the rumors are true. If that is the case, then it kinda makes you wonder why?
