A radio talk show claimed that Alabama had no holding penalties this year. I laughed when I heard it, but does anyone know where those stats can be found. I'm curious now.

I think the correct stat is 2 holding calls.. in the last 2 seasons. I may be wrong, but if I am, it's 3 holding calls in the last 2 seasons.

Those Tiders were crying like babies when Shula was their coach! They sure have short memories. Saban will stroke out soon enough.

What can we do as fans to stop all this bama homer ism? I sent e-mails to the sec office and LSU office. Should we as fans demand a answer from the SEC.

To samson73103: Your clowns in the SEC office are making the conference look like WWE wrestling. If Bama is so big and bad, why don't they play LSU's schedule next season.

P.S. Because the office is in Birmingham, doesn't dictate that the majority of executives have to be ALA or AU grads.

Then maybe you should apply for a job there to try and even things out.

I found the site linked below...it doesn't break them down by what type of penalty, but it does rank teams by average number per game. I goes back all the way to the 2003 season, which is illustrative because Saban was still at LSU and Mike Shula was at BAMA. I made it easy on everyone and compiled the info to make it easier to see...

For nearly a decade (and does anyone REALLY want to bet that it wouldn't go past that?!?) LSU has been MUCH more penalized than BAMA. Doesn't matter who's coaching LSU or BAMA...they're less penalized. It doesn't matter the team's records...BAMA is less penalized. The shocking disparity begins in 2007 when everyone's favorite hobbit took over in T-Town. At which point BAMA's lowest SEC rank has been 3rd, with an absurd 2011 rank of 3rd nationally and a gap of 35 teams between themselves at the nearest least penalized team in the SEC...the vaunted Wildcats of Kentucky!

Do with the numbers what you will...I can't verify them. I took them from the linked site, but I have no reason to doubt them. And while I did my best to compile them, I'm shitty at typing so there's a possibility there's a number wrong here or there...feel free to double check if you'd like.

That is absurd. You'd think there would at least be an outlier where LSU was less penalized vs. Bama one year but, nope. It's just that fricking blatant.

Btw they got 2 holding penalties the Michigan game with non sec in the first half I know. The whole transition committee was nothing but humps and Mississippi state alum. I already ran their bios on the sec rant

My favorite part of the chart is how consistently penalized LSU has been for a decade. There are a few outliers during Miles' tenure...most hilariously in 2007 when first year BAMA coach Nick Saban has his lads at 5th in the nation and 1st in the SEC at 4.5 per game, while LSU (who was #1 for parts of the season and would therefore, it's said, benefit from home SEC cooking looking to help an SEC team make it to the BCSNCG) goes 117th in the nation and dead last in the SEC at 8.4 per game.

Further, except for 2005 and 2007 LSU has been remarkably consistent regardless of who is on the sidelines. So much for Saban being the reason...

Seriously. No one cares anyway when we LSU fans bitch about unfair bias. At least when gumps whine, they are rewarded with a spot in the NC game.

We will. But would you at least admit that the SEC office in downtown Birmingham is a little biased towards the school 53 miles away. homecooking don't you think?

If Joe petitions to join another conference, I don't care at this point. we will never get a fair shot as long as the top brass in the SEC are gumps.

hey samson why dont you go look at the parking lot at 2201 Richard Arrington Blvd and tell me if they are biased towards the Big A. It looks like a bama tailgate party with all the flags and license plates. I know bc I work at the Regions Center a few blocks away hoss. Turn the tables and put the SEC office in New orleans and load up the top brass with the LSU alums. the gumps would scream until their 3 teeth would fall out.

How many LSu alums make up the top Brass at the SEC office?

I hope this schedule thing actually hurts alabama. They look like the weaklings and we are playing the tougher schedule. It would be interesting if this story actually got to espn. I bet they would be interested in who makes the schedules.

ESPN has a satelite office in Tuscaloosa. Remember, they had Nickie on their Game Day Show last year before the SEC Championship game, working to make sure that the gumps got a refrickingdo.
