You can have all the talent in the world but if the coach is a bad coach then it doesn’t matter. Ben Simmons season anyone.

LSU is losing not because of NIL, but because McMahon is a shitty coach. LSU blew the lead to Ole Miss because McMahon is a shitty coach.

How big is the disadvantage really though? The recruiting rankings don't suggest we are at a disadvantage at all.
Did you really ask how big of a disadvantage it is when the average team in the conference is spending 2-3x what you are and the big teams more than that?

That we pulled in a good hs class last year is solid, but you can't make up the difference with freshmen unless they are Fab 5 level.

Yes, because despite that huge spending deficit that you idiots are parading around talking about, LSU has ranked 5th, 10th and 5th in the SEC in recruiting. Why are the actual results nowhere near that? And why should I believe just bc you throw more money around that anything will improve? Sorry if the facts upset you.

Just took a quick look at the rankings using on3 (not sure how much they vary from other sites). This is how they've done, compared to the conference, in recruiting since McMahon has been here.

2022 - 6th
2023 - 7th
2024 - 4th
(currently 5th for 2025)

For transfers (again compared to the conference)
2022 - they didn't do rankings
2023 - 4th
2024 - 3rd

I just have a hard time seeing how he's being handicapped by the budget from fielding a competitive team. Not a championship team, just a competitive one. If people's gripes were about him not winning the conference yet and not making runs in the tournament, I'd totally get the money argument. But from every metric, LSU has, at worst, been middle of the pack of the conference for talent acquisition yet has produced a 13-35 conference record during that time. Add to it that we are in year 3 where there should be signs of this thing coming along and the team is currently 2-10.

Anyway, maybe pouring some more money into it will fix things. I'm not expecting it but I can't see the future. What I do know is that for 3 straight years LSU has not had a problem acquiring talent, at or above, league average yet is getting bottom of the conference results.

And all you need is 3 or 4 of those $500k and 2 or 3 $300k players to have a competitive SEC team. The bill for that would be around $2.5mil. So we are about a mil short. Not a huge gap from where we are now. Canes and Gordon are good for that or half that. Woody should be good for the other half. Problem solved.

Don’t want any more NIL funds going to a lame duck coach. Would just be pissing money away.

Florida is reportedly 13th in the SEC in NIL. Doesn’t seem to be a problem for them

You've been saying this for a couple of days now. Who is reporting this? I can't find anything to substantiate this claim.

I'd like to see what these nothing-schools that make the sweet 16 every other year are offering...

Read it on a Florida basketball site when I was looking for NIL spending. Might have been the Gainesville Sun

Not possible, you can’t win unless you’re outspending everyone else. You didn’t hear?

It’s just another excuse and nobody even knows the NIL amounts for each team. As I predicted when all these same people were jumping up and down and spiking the ball after the class was signed this season, they’re all claiming “muh no talent” now just like I said they would.

Found it

It has nothing to do with NIL though, and its over a year old. The article says they were near the bottom of the SEC in basketball operating expenses and toward the bottom in "recruiting expenses." But the data is related to the 2021 season when White was there and before NIL was really even a thing. Another interesting tidbit in the article is that LSU was one of the two schools to have less "basketball operating expenses" than Florida that year.

So no, Florida is not 13th in the SEC in NIL spending.

All these douchebags saying they don’t have the players are the same ones who say how good of a class McMahon is bringing in every year
--------

You implying we have the players?

We don't. Spending less than our competitors is not going to make us competitive very often.

We had the 5th ranked class in the SEC this year and our transfers have been productive so yes we have good enough players to not be 2-10

Yes, January 18, 2024. Over a year old like I said.

Neither do you, but that hasn't stopped you from trying to dunk on everyone with this stupid false talking point. Just do some fact checking before you spew misinformation everywhere.
