Please don't waste your ace against Jackson St. Their fielding and pitching is Terrible, and they've already thrown their ace.
If you go down one run, put in Robicheux.
OP makes good points, but you have to start your ace in game 1. It was a bad move, got too clever.

Ignore the 20/20 hindsight people here. Robichaux clearly made the right call, it just didn't work.
--Yes, your guy who started last night was a good choice to pitch...he has been pretty good all year.
--Pitching wasn't the problem. I have to feel that ULL thinks they should win any game where the pitching gives up 4 runs given how good the offense is.
--The goal is to win the regional...not just win a game or 2. The best plan for winning the regional was to try to let Robichaux beat LSU and put them in the loser's bracket.
--Given that the goal is to still win the regional, it would be foolish to pitch Robichaux today against Jackson State. You have to start someone else and just hope to outslug J-State. As someone else mentioned, if you can't beat the SWAC team, you probably deserve to go home anyway.

No...the only chance ULL has to get out of the regional is to get LSU out of the winner's bracket. And they felt the best way to get LSU out of the winner's bracket was to pitch Austin Robichaux against them on Saturday. Unfortunately for them, that plan was thwarted on Friday.

I was with you up until here.
Losing yesterday puts you in a position where you MUST start your ace.
You cannot, as a 2/3 seed, justify going 2 and que in a regional and NOT pitching your ace.

Who cares if you go 0-2 or 1-2 or 2-2...the goal is to win the regional. Their best chance to win the regional is to get past J-State today, then use Robichaux tomorrow.

It was absolutely the right decision. Yall came here to win the regional. 2nd 3rd and 4 th are all the same. That was a gamble Robichaux took that gave him the best chance of winning.
