Just Found These Cool Photos of Billy Cannon and Johnny Robinson

Back story: Billy Cannon and Johnny Robinson toured businesses endorsing products after signing on to their professional teams. We found these photos of the two representing Levi Jeans in my great uncles store in Abbeville.
Cannon was with the Oilers at the time and Robinson with the Texans.
ETA: We don’t have a specific year but I would have to guess early 60s
Cannon on the left, Robinson in the middle and the Levi rep on the right.
In this photo, my great uncle is in the center, and his son is getting a signed football from Billy Cannon.
So cool to have this piece of LSU history in my family photos!

Not really. The players are just smoking something different these days.

Not smokes. It's his cell phone.

Yes,. I have a Wilson football autographed by Billy Cannon from that tour. It was signed in Alexandria at a sporting goods store on a Bolton Avenue. (Can’t remember store’s name.)
I was 10 years old and Cannon looked like a giant to me.
“To Peter, Best wishes! Billy Cannon “20”

I noticed that too. According to Wikipedia both were 6'1" and basically the same weight. Cannon looks at least 2" and 10-15 lbs heavier.

Many do not realize that it was Cannon & Robinson, along with QB Warren Rabb, who made the final tackle on the goal line to stop the Black Bears on 4th & 1 at the end of the Cannon Punt Return game. Bears had 1st and goal at the 1 & LSU stopped them on 4 plays to cinch the win. Players played both ways back then due to the substation rules.

Although Cannon got most of the praise, Johnny was one hell of a player!
