The OLINE looked awesome last week, now today we are in trouble

One of the reasons LSU had trouble running up the middle early in the game is that they offensive braintrusts didn't give them any other looks. One run by ford (with success) on the edge and I think that was it early.

I thought the defense had a subpar first half. Hopefully this will teach them not to read their clippings. I'd really like to see us get more pressure on the QB. With our DLine we should be doing a better job of this.

Every year, LSU seems to have an 'off' game, and I hope that was the Vols. You have to play one game at a time...sure, LSU is worlds better than Auburn, but could they lose to Auburn? Sure they can, turnovers, playing flat, you just never know what happens in an SEC game. I just hope that 1st half was a wake up call to the D- you have to play 100% on every play against every opponent.

they probably figure why show anything if you're trouncing teams. We had 3 drives in the second half and scored on all 3, as Miles says this removes the opportunity of victory for the other team (or something like that)

It's a shame that every thread has to turn into a JJ criticism.
Gray, you're way off base if you're directing your comments this direction. I'll be polite and leave it at that.

Blowing off those throws as "no big deal" is kind of like saying a runner fumbles, but his own team recovers so "it's OK". It's a problem.

Basically im going with you are trying to make it seem worse than it was. He had 1 bad throw that was too high to obj. The other one he was getting pressure and rocketed it. So he had 2 incompletes. I was just wondering if you knew that or if you were acting like he threw the ball 15 times. That's like arguing a rb that runs 3 times and only has 1 run gain yards is terrible.

If any one wants to argue the threat of having JJ as a runner go ahead. But that has proven to be a viable option over the course of his career.

I actually think he played well. Yall just have such high expectations. A wr like rogers should own tm7 more than once. See Julio vs peterson.

The same goes for this team, we never score enough points, we gave up too many rushing yards, too many passing yards,

What scares me is if JJ is having a bad attitude. Cussing because he is a backup. Keeping the ball so he gets the stats. That could really hurt the locker room.

I like the change of pace JJ brings, but he scares me when he is in. It could add a lot. BUT, He still has that dumb look on his face, takes too long to get rid of the ball, he has never been able to run the option correctly, stares down receivers, and throws behind wide open receivers, just like last year.

Gray Tiger, its just the truth. Its how it is. He ran a great drive yesterday, but that won't happen against a quality opponent.

Both our OLine and DLine looked VERY pedestrian.

Tenn had 2 meaningful possessions in the 2nd half. LSU controlled the ball for 22 minutes in the second half. LSU had 3 possessions in the 2nd half. LSU had a 99 yard, 16 play, 9 minute drive in the second half.

LSU's Defense held Tenn rushing to 3.8 yards per carry.

How about some realistic expectation?

PS-Offensive Pass Interference on HB7 on the 44 yard gain and the interference call on him was questionable because he was making a play on the ball when contact was made.

He played OK. But he ran his mouth after every play whether he was involved or not. Can't have that. He needs to just STFU and PLAY GREAT D.

No.
I see your point.
33% of JJ's passes were catchable, and he was only allowed to throw 3 times. Really not that bad.
Good thoughts.

Canton I hope I'm wrong on this but the O line has several injuries and this could come back to hurt us especially since we live and die by the run. One last thing no bandwagon here first game Tiger Stadium 1963 just calling it like I see it.

I figure Miles and Co are doing what they feel is necessary and only what they feel is necessary, an not going for style points. It would be fun to see all the gears in motion as a fan, in a season like this.

I think getting Lonergan back upgrades two spots on the OL (C and LG).

TBob is a much better guard than center. Personally, I'd leave Wiliford in at RG.

Great list NC_Tigah, I totally agree. I expected more of our own rushing, and they moved the ball on our D line too much... Wing missed on a couple punts, we will need those to not make it in the end zone against bama... JJ certainly looks to run first... TM7 needs to chill a bit..

but man, those 31 pts. sure make the areas for improvement not look so bad!!
