Here is a thread discussing how his defenses progressively got worse, year after year. This was after the Ole Miss game when everyone was pissed at how porous the D was. *It should be noted that after that game, the D came together and played at a Championship level. It only took 10 games to get there, though.

Noted in the thread discussion was that Pelini had three #3 defenses. I expect with time and recruits, he comes close to reinventing that level of success.

Difference is, we still won and the game was never even in question.

LSU got up big in the first half of that game and didn't gaf in the 2nd half so Ole Miss ran wild. It's nothing like the constant abortion Pelini is presiding over.

Aranda had one horrible game during his entire time here. Pelini has already had two in his first three games.

We aren’t going up against Tommy Tuberville’s Auburn, Mike DeBose’s bama, Fulmer’s Tennessee and Sly Croom’s state anymore

And everyone was bitching, rightfully. Don’t really see the point.

Just a reminder that Aranda held A&M, UGA, Oklahoma, and Clemson to their worst offensive performances of the season to help us win a National Championship

Mizzou and Miss St have scored 12, 19, 14, and 0 in their other 4 games.

Do you not understand the difference in giving up yards and points when up 31-7 versus being in a nailbiter all game? That whole second half was essentially garbage time.

The Ole Miss argument is such a fricking loser, and really show the posters who lack critical thinking and/or are just O lackeys who want to shite on Aranda because they know deep down he propped O up for the last four years.

And the Pelini will replicate what he did from 05-07...for the love of god go back and watch those games. Pelini didn't do shite. Saban's recruits and defense lined up and SEC teams got in the I-formation and ran into the teeth of NFL caliber linemen while Pelini screamed and shouted.

Not only did every team with a remotely innovative scheme tear us up, in 2007 when the defense was more Pelini and less Saban the defense regressed tremendously. Arkansas, Kentucky, and Bama were all incredibly mediocre and tore us up. Then Bo leaves and 2008 is historically bad. Yes Malveto sucked and deserves a lot of blame, but that was also a defense made up of players Pelini had recruited and more importantly "coached" up.

The man is a fricking disaster

no. no way he can last that long now. plus all those top defenses were against a completely different offensive world.

Said it before and I'll say it again. Louisiana talent made Saban. (look at all the pivotal players from Louisiana on his gump cship teams) Louisiana talent made Les. Louisiana talent made Pelini.

We definitely had our issues for sure on D last year. If not for a historic performance by Burrow against Texas, we probably would have lost the opener. But the D tightened up when it needed to and made plays. You could see in-game adjustments throughout the season.

With Ole Miss, at least you had a QB with blazing speed just catching them off guard after one of the biggest wins in LSU history. Every coach/team has their lapse games and every coach has been bitched about. I just don't ever recall an LSU defense looking this poor against mediocre talent.

The point is, last year, the offense covered for the defense's shortcomings. This year, we can't punch it in with four tries from the 1 yard line. But everybody bitches about defense.

With all due respect, last years team took that game as a loss while this years team blame the fans.

Neither State nor Mizzou has a QB with the skillset of John Rhys Plumlee.

This comparison is flat out wrong!

What makes it even funnier is people rightfully hated the Ole Miss argument when national media guys made it last season but now use it defend Pelini.

LSU defense improved as the year went on and the defense didn't cost lsu a game last year. Lets See if Pelini can shut down the florida and bama offense like aranda shut down clemson and oklahoma.

You do realize this is the worst 3 game start defense wise in LSU history, right?

This is a terrible comparison. As stated, the defense was good enough for LSU to build a huge lead then switched off. And they still got the job done. Were just getting gashed by garbage teams currently.
