This. You can’t ask for a better guy to mentor the young backs. And you know he won’t demand carries or reps at their expense. Like always, he will play his role and excel at it.

That wouldn't make sense his stock isn't going to get any higher and from my understanding he has already graduated.

He’s already got a marketing degree. He may take a shot at the pros, but he’s got a future in the real world when he wants it.

My hope- the athletic department keeps him home for PR and marketing for the program. Seems like a perfect fit. You know he would be amazing representing LSU after his football days are over. Can you imagine a better ambassador for the university?

So he can play another year of football?

A comment earlier said that he’s already graduated. Another year of free school to get an advanced degree is not such a bad thing

I’m sure there’s a lot of us that post on this board that have experienced being both the nail and the hammer but man to see the smaller guy winning that exchange is so satisfying.

Someone should throw together a Josh Williams greatest hits video. He may not overwhelm with the yards or TD,s but he has laid some crucial and devastating blocks/hits. I really do hope he comes back for selfish reasons as he's about the poster boy for unselfishness

Why do so many posters think Diggs is even thinking going pro?

He had 650 rushing yards. He wouldn’t get drafted if he declared

Not just a great blocker; he was the best RB receiving swing passes out of the back field. And if he does come back, that means he has his head on straight & would be a great role model.

Not everything requires a rational explanation. Maybe he just wants to.

I think Josh Williams will always be eligible. First college football player to receive a 20 year service pension.

That would be an outstanding development imo.

Josh is by far (to my eyes anyway) our best pocket and downfield blocker, he can catch and run, and he's tough as nails on short yardage 'gotta have it' type plays. And he's a character guy who leads by example as evidenced by his receiving a diploma yesterday.

All he lacks is another gear, but in all honesty he just doesn't have that, and you can't really make people faster than they are.

As a total package I think Josh is great, and having him back would be a big positive for both him and the team.

Cause RBs have a short shelf life. If he wants to have a pro career, why "waste" one of the few years you have getting beat up and added tread in a brutal SEC schedule?

quote:

He had 650 rushing yards. He wouldn’t get drafted if he declared

He has plenty of tape. He is who he is. He may not get drafted, but UDFA make rosters every year. He's either gonna have an NFL career or not. Coming back next year isn't gonna help raise his stock. Not like adding an extra year of wear and tear is gonna make him a 1st rounder, even if he has 1,650 yards rushing. Only very special RBs go in the 1st round now.

Like I said, he is who he is. And coming back to college adds the risk of getting injured. He may, in fact, come back. But it will be for reasons having nothing to do with the NFL. Unless he's currently injured, he's as ready as he'll ever be. Get drafted late or sign as an UDFA. All he needs is an opportunity in a camp. And he'll either make it or he won't. Either with that team or another one that sees him and thinks he can help their team. But he's not going to gain any skills by coming back that will make him more appealing, it will just make him a year older, a year closer to having his window closed.
