I doubt that even 5% of the fan base is actually pulling for LSU to lose and I’d say that 5% aren’t truly fans cuz fans cheer for their team to win no matter what.
In other words, Rick, you’re an idiot and no one agrees with you.

Basically I’m saying CLM was stubborn, O would like to make the changes we all see need it be made but is clueless as to how to accomplish it.
I think it’s obvious that the main flaw in the CEO approach that O sold when hired is that O has no idea what does and doesn’t make a good coordinator. You can’t rely on the “best coordinators” if you can’t identify who those guys are.
Yep. It is hard to find that for which you don't know you are looking.
But I do think O is stubborn. Like Miles with the offense, this defense is O's defense. Not the play to play calls, but the overall approach. Same as Miles and the offense. Once Aranda left he very clearly indicated he wanted an "attacking" 4-3 defense. So he is dictating the approach. Which his history at LSU has shown is a HORRIBLE situation.
3 games into 2017 he hated Canada's offense. As such, versus Troy, while he wasn't calling the plays, he mandated that LSU run a different offense approach. The result was LSU's most embarrassing loss in almost 20 years. A week later versus Florida it looked like the Canada offense again and LSU was able to get a win.
For his first 3 seasons he didn't meddle in Aranda's approach. It was clear that wasn't his preferred approach (and he made some offhanded comments to that effect), but he did not interfere like he did vs. Troy. The moment Aranda left Ed immediately indicated LSU was going to run HIS preferred defense. The result? LSU went from a team that generally ranked, at worst, in the top 1/3 of the country in defense year after year to one of the worst defenses in all of college football.
As crazy as this sounds for a coach earning $8 million per year, outside of recruiting and just generally overseeing the program LSU is at its best the LESS Orgeron is involved in the actual gameplay/on field approach.
The CEO model CAN work. But it ONLY works when the CEO realizes he needs to hire coordinators who are good at doing what THEY do...not guys who will just implement Ed's approach. His job with respect hiring coordinators should be to survey the landscape of college football. See which coordinators are having great success. Then use the power of the prestige and purse of the LSU brand to hire those guys to come in and do what THEY want to do. Not what Ed THINKS they should do.
The problem is there is an underlying sense of insecurity that comes with that because deep down it validates the fact that YOU are not really all that important. And if YOU know you aren't really that important you're afraid that one day those who employ you might recognize that as well.

I don't know why anyone on here expected some great comeback season.
Because on an individual basis we have extremely talented players.

What was most telling is we got beat by a team of whom most of their players would never have even received an offer from LSU.
I held zero pre-animus towards Ed when he was hired. I now have zero respect for him. He's a child masquerading as an adult.

Your are completely right about the defense and I’m disappointed with myself for not seeing it sooner. He literally passed on State’s DC cuz he didn’t want to run a 3-3-5 despite the guy being successful everywhere he’s been with that scheme.

Pretty sure the inside story to that one is the DC is a Matt Canada part 2.

What is referencing about the burned bridges with the BOS and LSU trying to help Orgeron?

The other red flag he mentioned was strength and conditioning . It is obvious something is wrong there.

A lot of Football coaches tend to be abrasive, but If they are good at what they do, you leave them alone and let them work. It goes back to what alt was saying about O wanting HIS defense, not the coordinators defense.

i think most of the general media outside LA is in agreement he needs to go. which if you remember, they lost their minds at the mere mention of booting miles.

I've spoken to him a couple of times in the gym, and his take has always been right on and pretty direct.

IDK. If you look at how our players perform at the Combine and at Pro Day, they do well. IOW, I don't see Moffitt and S&C as being some big factor or at all.

This guy is saying exactly how I feel. Completely nailed it and he sees the writing on the wall.

What, that he might tell the HC who is CLEARLY out of his league in terms of scheme/approach/playcalling to frick off and stay out of the way? That's what LSU NEEDS!
Canada had his offense. O didn't like it and demanded he change it for the Troy game. LSU lost.
O fired him (in part) because Canada didn't just go along as a "yes man". His solution, hire a guy, Ensminger, who would not reject the HC's input. Was Ensminger really the "best OC in the country" as O claimed he would hire? Of course not. Even Ensminger felt that way as he was reluctant to take the job. Yet, he wasn't going to usurp the HC's authority which made him the best person for the job in O's eyes.
O stayed out of Aranda's (figuratively) hair. But the moment he left O wanted a guy to run O's defense...not the DC's preferred defense. The results speak for themselves and they've been nothing short of a disaster.
O's plan was to hire the "best coordinators". The best coordinators are the guys who are the best at doing what THEY do. What we are getting instead is O is hiring the "best coordinators" to do what HE wants them to do. He (Orgeron) being a football simpleton.

Agree. Pate does a good job on his takes and not just about LSU.

Damn…that is really spot on! That’s definitely a video that will be seen by many many lsu fans.

Because on an individual basis we have extremely talented players.
We are talented on paper, but there were still glaring problems. The offensive line has been trash. As other people have said, Joe Brady and Joe Burrow made the line look serviceable. They said before the 19 season started that they needed Burrow to get rid of the ball quick and game planned around that with the exceptional WR play, with being able to shed defenders quickly. This masked a lot of the deficiencies that would have otherwise been obvious. Without the same talent and game plan, the offense was exposed for what it is, a liability. Without a decent line, you have very little options with the talent we have. On the opposite side of the ball, no one did or could have predicted that the defense would be as bad as they are. You can blame Bo all day long, but there was an underlying issue that the defensive players mostly gave up. I've heard all kinds of reasons for this, including BLM, etc. Who knows? At the end of the day, talent can only take you so far, especially if your team just doesn't want it. That's what it looks like on both sides of the ball, right now.
Also, Brennan was better than Max.
