But his bread and butter is running the ball so you at a minimum stack the box.

$10mill is a lot of money for a Coach who can’t teach a defense to adjust mid-game. I am fed-up with the arrogant, high-paid Brian Kelly.

but the defensive players essentially we’re thrown in the ocean with no life ramp when Reed entered the game and that’s 100 percent on the coaches.

This is a friendly reminder that Reed was brought into the game with the ball on the LSU 8 b/c of an interception. That isn't 100% on the coaches.

How different does this game look at that point if Nuss doesn't throw that INT? We had already missed 2 FGs by then. We should have been up by 16 and converting on a 3rd and 2. Instead, we were up by 10 and gifted them 7 points.

It reminded me of the 2001 SECCG against Tennessee. Rohan went down in the first half and we ran read option with Mauck pretty much every play the rest of the game and the Chief couldn't stop it.

Look, every team runs read option so it's not like it's rocket science to adjust to, these kids should know their assignments for it - but there's a few things that contributed to the tidal wave that consumed us:

1) This happened halfway through the 3rd quarter - not so easy to just be ready for the different speed the read option has with this cat in the game as opposed to the first one.

2) Those turnovers energized their whole team. The short fields did our defense no favors.

3) Our defense still is not where it should be for an LSU D as far as talent - they've been coached up but we ain't there. I think the cavalry's coming but they ain't getting here this year.

it was frustrating but I don't think it would have mattered as much had the offense executed better, had we gone up 17 in the 3rd instead of giving them a short field to score a quick TD, don't see them able to complete that comeback even if reece runs wild.

It's both coaches and players fault.

We had Sage Ryan, who couldn't tackle me right now and Burns, who can only tackle me right now, "spying" the QB.

We need someone who is quick, smart, and fast to stop that kind of QB. But, in the end, the players need to execute.

Maybe Reed was just that much faster, smarter, and quicker than any of our players. Go back to last year. Don't you think those DC's knew Daniels could run and still he would gain 150 and 200 yards continously?

Was it the coaching or the players for those teams?

It was zone read and power read. The DE being read kept playing the RB when his job is to play the QB. I wouldn't want to be a DE in film on Sunday because that's basic as hell football. I'm sure Baker was furious that this simple mistake kept happening. Seems like the moment got too big for some of our players and they shite the bed.

exactly. Reed could have come in and fricked up the possession on our 8 and all they got was a FG and the Aggies would have been screaming at ELKO

The reality is LSU could have prepared all week for Reed and it may not have mattered. The dude was faster than anyone we have on Defense, anyone we have seen all year and when we did touch him we missed tackles. Reed made Moss so much more dangerous as well.

Teams prepped all week for JD5 running the ball last year and he still torched them on the ground. Sometimes you are the windshield and sometimes you are the bug

what is more concerning to me is how does Blake Baker adjust to rushing QBs with speed. The USCe QB gave us fits running the ball, we lost to the TAMU QB running the ball and we have the most dynamic QB rusher in CFB coming in to BTR in two weeks.

The quy is as much of a passer as a RB is passer because he threw a halfback pass - his passing is horrible. Should have went man to man, cover 0, and attack the damned QB on the run. They were running a high school offense at that point; counter with the high school defense.

Short field helped them out a lot as well. That and the defense got gassed after offense couldnt stay on field long late third and into fourth quarter. Also not prepared for Reed

exactly, the offense can't sustain a drive. Having no running game is the reason for the loss.

We ran 3 safeties.

None of them wanted to support the run - all of them were scared and quit.

THE END.

Use Google dummy. Every coach in the top half of the SEC is being paid $9 to $11 million per year except for Elko, who is in year one of his deal and had only been a P5 HC for one year. And he’s likely about to get a bump to that level. Riley got just as big a deal and buyout at USC as Kelly did here. Welcome to big boy football in 2024.

Riley and Norvell make more than Kelly. Are they earning that based on performance this year? Did Dabo the last 2 years? Drink and Mark Stoops are making $9 mil now. Are they earning it this year?

Coaches don’t get paid on performance. If they haven’t been fired, they get paid based on their best accomplishments and the level of the program where they are coaching. Period. That’s it. $10 million per year is just take stakes in the SEC and the top of the P5 now. Kelly’s contract is currently 8th place, and it will likely be a spot or two lower after this season.

So grow up and stop being a cheap-arse like Joe fricking Dean. The money has nothing to do with anything. You pay to play and if they start losing, you pay them to go away. Anyone in this job would make $9 mil plus today. There will never be another bargain basement DiNardo or O hire by a cheap or spineless AD.

Safety play was pretty bad this game but I havent seen a lot of people upset that Whit Weeks was also compeltely terrible this game too. It's like he used up all his good the previous 2 weeks or something. Dude was missing tackles left and right and just couldnt ever make any impact on this game really.

PFF graded him out as the worst player on the entire defense that game

Dude picked a bad game to play his worst in. I know most of us have long forgotton Perkins, but Perkins is the exact LB you want when a mobile QB like Reed gets in the game. Perkins was the swiss army knife for those types of QBs.
