if he puts on weight he's going to lose what mobility he has and likely can't weakside defend. his offensive skill is attrocious
some kids just aren't NBA players and can be great college players. he seems to be one.
he reminds me of some guys who went to the NBA straight from high school and failed, but they would have failed worse had they gone to college. his only real shot at the NBA would have been if he was in the old system and could have gone straight from HS.

Kid isn't emotionally ready yet

Players can always go back to school. See my comment earlier about my friend who was drafted out of HS to pitch for the Pirates.
One of my best friends is a 29-year old Freshman right now. Drafted high 2nd round out of HS, committed to LSU, couldn't turn down that much money. After 10 years, arm just somewhat gave out and he's back in school. But the difference in these situations were he got guaranteed money upfront. I just don't know if the juice is worth the squeeze for Mickey.
Obviously he wants things we don't know, and we have no clue where he would go so it's all a waiting game.
Hypothetically though, if he goes to the D-league next year and spends a whole year making 30k...is that better than staying in school? Personally, I don't think it is

Do I think he can make a career out of basketball and become a millionaire? Yes.
How do you get to be a millionaire on a $100k salary and a ten year career? He'd have to save every dime.

I disagree with this. It's not like he's quick, he just knows how to time it well on when to drop into help side defense and make a play. IMO.

Yet to be seen by I don't disagree. Again, I don't think he'll be an All Star. But I don't think another year at LSU would really improve his stock.

He reminds me of a classic Florida player that Donovan would convince to stay 3 seasons, then collect his payday

Pretty sure Dupree played for 6-7 years right? I mean, he made some money. No one is arguing that Mickey is going to be an All Star in the NBA.
Dupree played small forward in the NBA, do you think Mickey will be able to do that? I just don't see it offensively.

If you think a bunch of uncontested dunks, with his knees up around his ears, makes a bit of difference to the pros you're sadly mistaken.
Sounds a lot like Okafor from Duke and most think he is a top 5 pick...... Or Stein from UK... All he does is dumk. He has ZERO offensive game.........

the athletic 3/4 tweeners without guard skills are often converted to big men (with no NBA future) in college
that's actually EXACTLY why KG went to the NBA. he didn't want to be stuck as a 5 when he was a 3 (later a 4, and in old age, a 5)
it's an example of college coaches developing players for college v. that player developing an NBA game. it's why staying in college is bad

Okafor is 7ft tall first of all, and has a great inside game IMO. He will be a stud in the NBA in a few years.

I don't know who you are and have no intentions on making any bets on the internet with you. Thanks though. but we can just do the whole "told you so" thing like most adults. Try to act like one. TIA.
Damn, I pissed you off. I mean there are ways to my sig bets, ban bets, other things...but yea. You are the definition of pot meeting kettle

Has anyone yet explained what's so tough about being a college athlete at LSU? It's not like these guys are struggling to put food on their tables. Classes? Give me a break, they have plenty of "tutors" to help them pass their classes. If given the opportunity, most adults I talk to would choose to go back and relive college over any other time in life. It's ridiculous for these guys to act like they have to jump as soon as they can find someone to take them.
From what I understand, Mickey's family does alright.

For some players. But Mickey was never going to be a 3

If he stays, does anything change for him?

I got hammered for saying Jones should sell Mickey some looks at the 3 when we want to go big on the court, but I agree. He knows his likely future is at the 3, and LSU can't really offer that with the absurd depth we'll have at guard but scarcity of big men.
He's obviously a great college 4 with decent pro potential, but Jones should be telling him whatever he wants to hear
