I dont think you know what competitive means if you are saying that.

It could be both ya know. He deserves SOME criticism, but not all that he is getting. And he has reasons that are obviously not his fault for whats happening

Players are playing out of position, and some shouldn’t be on the field at all!
Who do you suggest we put on the field?
There are no mid-season trades in college baseball and there is no one down in AAA we can call up. The guys who are playing are playing and are playing at the positions they are because that's the best we have.
It's not good enough for SEC play. But it's what we are going to have to work with.

CJJ lead protector reporting for duty. Durrrrrrrrrr!!!
These are CJJ’s post game comments. I guess he doesn’t know what competitive means either huh? Uh oh !!
“We need to focus on getting better at baseball and finding that core group of guys that are committed to winning,” said coach Jay Johnson after the loss. “It’s not easy, but we’ve got to get better on the mound, better on defense, have better at-bats and have a more competitive attitude.”

So all of you pleading for fans to give him time need to stop! I’m sure that he would be the first to tell all of you that.
We’re not talking about a guy who was a failed head coach or never coach a major program here. CJJ has proven he can get teams to the CWS. He’s proven he can pull top talent even with limited resources. Those things tell me you have to give it time.
Anyone who expected this team to finish at the top of the SEC this year must’ve not been paying attention. There aren’t enough arms. Now, I will say the lack of fielding is concerning. Thompson needs some time off and they need to find a solution at 3rd. Once Milazzo comes back, you should have the catching issue solved.

Curious - what coach do you think would have this team playing better? Given the same players.
Paul Maineiri.
I guarantee you there would’ve be as many errors on this team.

So what’s he supposed to say? You want him to call specific players out? Isn’t that what the majority of you crucified CPM for? The dude coaches for a living, he’s not fricking blind. He sees the same things we all see. You think he’s not frustrated and working with his team to fix them? Come on. You can’t be that naive.

I don’t think you can guarantee that. If it were just the new comers making errors, then yea, you could argue that. But your starting short stop from last year is the main offender. You can’t tell me that PM would have a different solution (other than starting some one else).

Dude go drink a cup of coffee. I said that it’s expected for LSU to field a competitive team, and Josh said I didn’t know what competitive means. Then I quoted CJJ saying that he doesn’t think they are competitive either.

My bad. I do need coffee… maybe with a shot of bourbon after last night.

You’re an idiot. Look how the program was trending. 45-45 in the last 90 SEC games before the start of this season.
You do no have a first year Coach just change the talent and culture from day 1 it takes time to fix and rebuild.
What you and many other people realize is how poor the program got since the CWS appearance. GTFO and post less.

I’m just disappointed that I’m seeing absolutely no improvement from game 1 to game 22 in any phase. There are very few dependable pitchers and no legitimate weekend guys, at least none that have emerged as such.
A super regional team that returned the majority of its lineup and added a first team all-American can’t seem to score against legitimate teams until the latter innings. Their offensive numbers are only as high as they are because they feasted on early weak competition.
Then you have the defense which is reaching historically bad levels. Johnson can’t find the right infield combination to save his life.
I get the cupboard is bare on the pitching side but we shouldn’t be this bad and we should be showing some improvement at this point and we’re not.
It’s concerning.

I refuse to believe how dumb some in this fanbase actually are.
quote:
rebuild
This wasn’t a rebuild . It was a tweak and improve. A team with Crews, Berry,Morgan,Doughty, Dugas, etc isn’t a rebuild.
Are we to believe that there is no player on LSU that can throw to first base from SS or 3rd base without skipping it off the infield or air mailing it?

At this point last year, with a much better pitching staff, LSU was 16-6. They’d go on to win 1 of their next 6 games and start SEC play 1-8.
You people who thought this team was going to steamroll their way to Omaha are fricking embarassing.
