Never was impressed with him; really did not think he was a good hire for a major university program. If he has another bad year, he needs to go and if Alleva waffles, then Alleva also needs to go. While you're at it, throw Nikki Vargas in that pile as well.

LSU athletics is really going down the shitter these days.
What are you guys talking about? The football team will be the most talented and experienced since 2011 the baseball team went to Omaha a year ago and are just starting SEC play with talented yet young players. The softball team is having a very good year so far. Gymnastics has a real good shot at winning a national championship. The basketball programs are down right now but to say that LSU athletics as a whole is bad is ridiculous.

aren't we already there? ...if not, how the hell much further can we fall?
We could have trent johnson as our head coach

What's the team going to look like in '17-'18, after lame duck Johnny is let go after not making the tourney next year? the new coach is going to take over a pretty piss poor roster that could rival the roster that Trent left Johnny with. At least Johnny had JOB, an NBA player, in his first year.

No one should step inside the PMAC for any future games until this AD decides LSU can and will be a basketball power. If they don't care about making basketball relevant, then stay home. Don't support these clowns anymore. Stay the frick home.
These goofballs running the show don't care about Dick, Harry, and Joe. They care about Benjamins. Screw these asshats. I have had enough being mediocre in basketball. Either get serious and fire the deadweight or shut the program down.
Fans vote with their pocketbook. Until 50% of the season ticket holders say no thanks. Alleva will think a steady amount of season ticket holders is a vote of confidence in JJ.
This is the same administration that thought Toonces was the best logo ever because fans were snatching it up and produced record sales.
Ben got a bunch of casual fans to attend games this year. They wont be back next season.
But more than likely Louisiana politics is playing a role in keeping JJ another year.

Well besides bringing in a 5 person class this upcoming year, we are the favorite to land the #1 player in Louisiana for 2017, Galen Alexander. He is ranked roughly 50th overall for 2017.
We would also still have Sampson who was highly ranked out of HS, and possibly Victor and Blakeney as well.

I know this is not of popular opinion, but he deserves one more season. He improved this team for 3 years straight, and for some reason fell completely on his face this past season with a lot of talent. I don't understand it but I think this next season will be the real challenge. This is make or break time and as embarassing as last season was, hopefully they pull through with a good 16-17 campaign.
Stfu idiot. You are weak just like JJ.
See ya at the crawfish boil

Oh joy! Did you happen to notice what JJ accomplished with the #1 player IN AMERICA?

the 5 person class are really a bunch of role players. and i think we'll all learned our lesson on not being too optimistic on JUCO players (see Gray and Odo). And considering there is a 99% chance that Johnny is let go next year, because they have no shot to make the Dance, how is our recruiting of Alexander going to be impacted with a brand new coach?

If Blakeney is back next season he's definitely won't be here past next season. Victor's decision will likely be determined on how well he plays this coming year. If he plays well and continue to improve, he's going to try to jump as well. Actually Victor's offensive game is built for the NBA. He's a good rebounder and has a good mid-range game if placed in pick and pop situations. He needs to work on becoming a better defender and with his mindset and work ethic I'm sure he'll be better defensively next year.

Because all highly ranked players are the exact same

I actually agree with all of this.
I think Victor and Blakeney take huge leaps next season. Sampson should be much better as well. Mays could be the best pure point guard we've had in years.
My point is, I think it is WAY too early to just write off next season already.

All this forgets about the biggest issue for most of us. Johnny Jones will be the coach next year, so we will see more stagnant offense, lazy defense, an inability to call TO at the right time (disguised as being "letting his team have freedom"), and the idiotic sit no matter the score if you have 2 PFs. That's the biggest reason people are writing off next year.
Posted on 3/24/16 at 1:18 pm to LSU713
He does give his players a lot of freedom on the court so assuming the players I mentioned improve, the play on the court should improve.

Let's assume both Blakeney and Quarterman return. LSU could have a solid four guard line up with either Patterson or Mays. The problem is they have nothing inside other than Victor who can't stay out of foul trouble. Even if Victor can improve defensively, he's not going to be a rim-protector and under Jones LSU has been absolutely awful at keeping teams from getting to the basket at will. Jordan Mickey cleaned up A LOT of mistakes on defense. Reath could be the second coming of Tyrus Thomas, but I doubt it. So outside of Victor, you NOTHING inside.
This will be the first time in his LSU career that Jones hasn't had a McDonald's All American in the frontcourt. The scary thing is that his results WITH those guys aren't very inspiring. Now he has to try to achieve more with less
