LSU fans won't be cheering for the BB team in the NCAA next year. Too little talent returning, even if Simmons is the only one leaving. Too much turnover with hopes placed on too many juco transfers and freshmen. We need experienced talent, depth, and a new coach!

It just sucks...

I stuck up for Alleva during the Les debacle, but my support was even waning towards the end of that.

This is just gross incompetence. If you can't see that Jones needs to go, then I worry about the athletic department as a whole.

I say open the checkbook and get Dan Radakovic back to campus.

It is a shame, that Dayton University cares about basketball more than LSU.

No one should step inside the PMAC for any future games until this AD decides LSU can and will be a basketball power. If they don't care about making basketball relevant, then stay home. Don't support these clowns anymore. Stay the frick home.

These goofballs running the show don't care about Dick, Harry, and Joe. They care about Benjamins. Screw these asshats. I have had enough being mediocre in basketball. Either get serious and fire the deadweight or shut the program down.

It's actually the 2nd most profitable sport on campus, so maybe we should invest in it and get a great coach

Nope, LSU isn't, but somewhere between being one of the two or three best basketball programs in the country (only UCLA has more titles than UK) and being unable to distinguish itself as one of the best 68 teams in the country is an area that LSU should reasonably expect itself to fall.

With all of the attention LSU got this season, it was a rare chance for the program to make a splash nationally. But, instead of kids seeing that LSU is a place where NBA caliber talent can succeed, Jones and the program failed in spectacular fashion. It was a great chance because of a great talent, but the failure had national media talking about LSU for all the wrong reasons -- poor coaching, underachieving, wasting NBA talent -- if Jones had recruited shitty talent no one would have noticed what a poor job he did.

That's a pretty myopic view of the man, but that does not come as a surprise to me on this board.

Profitable and being most popular are completely different.

It's football, baseball and you could argue gymnastics next most popular but I'll still put basketball at #3

Basketball is a huge revenue sport, that LSU ignores.

It's the same as LSU football in the 90s under AD Joe Dean. Instead of maximizing the potential revenue and profit, he was satisfied with pennies on the dollar.

Emmert and TAF changed the culture at LSU for a while in football. No one got that chance for basketball. It's small thinking by small minds. And it's gotten worse with FkingA using LSU athletics as a political pawn. There are about 4-5 states that rival each other for their incompetency and Louisiana is always among them. There is a reason why.
