He's probably thinking that he has spent too much time disciplining and teaching fundamentals.

Holy shite, if he's spending too much time teaching fundamentals, it ain't showing up on the court. We get called for illegal screens at least 4 times a game, nobody blocks out but Eddlestone, and no defense what so ever. I think he needs to stop worrying about coaching fundamentals and start worrying about what teams might want to pick him up as an assistant coach next year. No way in hell any school but an NAIA school would want him as coach after the undisciplined shite show that has happened this year. He's only doing his alma mater and his reputation more harm by keeping this charade up.

The book is out on JJ's x's & o's ability, his team has completely no idea how to break a zone defense down and cannot stop ball penetration on defense. You can blame AAU or high school coaches all you want, you develop the players you have and don't point fingers that others didn't do their job before you inherited the mess. Maybe his talent evaluation is the problem then, because he should have spotted during high school that our current player never blocked out or played defense, and JJ has not ability to coach that part of the game himself.

You don't know if any of the potential candidates even expressed an interest. Perhaps inquiries were made. It's doubtful Fuentes would leave Va Tech after a year. Fedora is not all that and a bag of chips. PJ Fleck would be a huge gamble. Success at W Michigan may not translate in the SEC particularly recruiting.

i obviously don't "know" who was or wasn't interested.

however i have a difficult time believing that only 2 people on the entire planet were interested in what is universally considered a top 5-10 job in the country.

you also will never convince me that Ed Orgeron was such a slam dunk that he needed to be hired immediately after hanging up with Herman and before conducting a single other interview.

i wouldn't be nearly as harsh on Alleva over hiring O if he had made it at least appear like he was trying.

Instead he openly bragged about hanging up on the hot candidate and immediately hiring an interim without calling anyone else to at least talk.

t's his first losing season? They are still recovering even people who REALLY follow basketball agree he should at leadt be given another year.
If you fire him the next coach has to make the tournament within the next 4 years or else he has to be fired too. You can't build a program like that. I thought Brady left a year early.

I said earlier in the season to let it all play out before making a decision. Well there are only three games left and it as big a disaster of a season as anyone could have. Embarresment on National TV in tournament games. Losing a player due to drug tests. Only winning one SEC game. There is just no excuse for this he has to go. Last year was a national embarrassment and CJJ lost control of the team. The same thing has happened this year. What will change next year? He only has two wing players coming in, no big men. Blakeney, the only bright spot of this season will be gone. They might not win a game in the entire schedule next year. Five years is enough time to see that he isn't improving he is getting worse as have his teams.

It's amazing the topic of his name (Jones) even comes up anymore. Someone obviously wants him to get paid a million or more to get the worse losing record ever in LSU history. It's nothing new here, move on to a new coach and let's stop the madness.

Really? What planet are you living on. Because very few coaches on planet America would do what you're suggesting.

Well just last season Bo Ryan at Wisconsin did just that. Not even a full year removed from playing in a national championship game he stepped down. Nobody forced him to and he could've stayed there as long as he wanted. But he knew it was time and it was what was best for the program. Maybe on planet America it never happens but here on earth "the planet I live on" It most definately happens.

I have no clue. He's never talked about it before. I'm assuming he'll leave because he probly gets drafted and staying at this school with this coach does nothing to improve your game. In fact there was a national article that came out the M&M boys last season that listed the top 5 reasons players leave early for the NBA draft. Reason number 5 was "because Johnny Jones is your coach" lol. Not joking it was a real article.
