Everything you have said in this thread is spot on. You obviously know that in the same ways I do.

His recruiting area was local including Acadiana. None of the high school coaches can say they even knew him.

Chavis has been retired for years.

Ex-players and staff that have worked with him all respect him, since I should say something nice.

Maybe if he hadn't acted like a little bitch at the end. Now he's is looked upon as such.

His defense lost two games against Bama that we had won on the last possession.

He played Welter over Kendall Beckwith.. cost us a couple of games.

He did not recruit and left us with a below average D line in talent and depth. When Orgeron took over we had more kickers than ILBs

He was fielding calls from TAM when we were on the field pre game ND

Glad he is gone.

2013 was no slouch with mettenberger, obj, Landry, Collins, hill, etc.

You could argue that Chavis’ defense cost us a championship.

the TJ Yeldon 2012 Bama loss was also 100% on Chavis

What a stupid thing to say. Chavis had it defensed perfectly, and Mills blew the coverage. If you want a scape goat, put it on Tyrann who washed out and left LSU having to rely on a freshman.

What about the Bama score right before half in that game? How many excuses do you need to make for chief?

I wasn't happy at times either, but Chavis never had a great complimentary offense.
bullshite.

quote:

His defenses were constantly on the field due to all those 3 downs and punt offenses at LSU during his tenure.
More bullshite!

quote:

That wears on any defense, when their offense can't put together drives, so they can rest on the sideline. Chavis more than held up coaching on his side of the football. Without Chavis, Miles wins total at LSU would have plummeted.
You seem to have an inexhaustible supply of bullshite.

LSU's offense had no problem with time of possession

Time of Possession in SEC games only:

2015 . . 32:04.63
2014 . . 33:50.38
2013 . . 30:17.63
2012 . . 32:02.25
2011 . . 31:56.50

I find this hard to believe. Didn’t we have 5 losses that year including a blowout loss to Auburn?

LINK

We did. But, the defense improved as the season went on. Offense, not so much.

Chief was a fraud who’s defenses were constantly exposed

This just isn’t true. At least no more than any other defense under any other coordinator. Pelini, Aranda, Muschamp—they all got “exposed” eventually. But if you look at LSU’s two wins over a Johnny Manziel—led Texas A&M and call that defense a “fraud,” then that’s just dumb.

He was good when he had elite talent at defensive tackle.

Without that he was mediocre

it wasn't just that single play you dumbass, we only had a FG lead, Chavis played that drive like LSU only needed to keep them out of the endzone and let Bama eat us up by playing off.

He got all the respect he needs when we played his 3rd and Chavis teams.
