nothing was better than hitting that camp with your boys in the summer, coming back home, and rocking that dixie camp shirt everywhere you went

That was a great camp

Even better was the DiNardo football camp during the era they were in a tiff with the dorms so we stayed off campus at the holiday inn off college. Ran wild….good times, good times

I brought my son there several years ago and the dorms smelled the same. Nothing had changed

25 years later, Still have brush burns from the carpet court.

Had to roll the football field in the sprinklers for filling a garbage can with water, knocking on the door, and running away.

When the sun comes up, ya better be running.

“Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up.

He knows he must run faster than the fastest lion or he will be killed.

Every morning a lion wakes up, he knows he must run faster than the slowest gazelle or he will starve to death.

The moral of the story: When the sun comes up, you better be running.”

Great memories at that camp.

You were there with my brother in ‘69. LSO was in BFE in 1969. Joe Dean and Brad Brian ran that camp.

Dixie Basketball Camp and Country Club. Love it when it’s hot, hate it when it’s not. There is a hole in the bottom of the sea. What are you going to do when the commies try to come in through the back door.

I always felt left out when all my friends came back wearing those shirts and talking about how much fun they had. It was definitely a fraternity. Unfortunately I never liked basketball so I never ended up going. My summers were always 100% baseball.

My favorite memory was playing "Because I Got High" by Afroman over and over on the jukebox in the recreation hall or whatever it was called

yes, many years later lived in Santa Maria right across old perkins. but it was all country back then, got to it from Airline--no interstate.

outdoor court. went for a two week session and used up a pair of converse in the process.

The apollo mission that landed on the moon took off when i was there.

My dad's friend played with Joe Dean at LSU and called him to get me in when i didn't hear back after submitting my application.
