don't think this program was in need of being rescued. I think Ed O did his job and brought in Joe Burrow and the rest is history.
OP’s premise was spot on. After the 2017 debacle with the failed Canada experiment, a 6-6 campaign would’ve likely sent recruiting and the program into a tailspin. Credit O for identifying the need at QB and bringing in Burrow. We’d be having very different conversations if not for that move.

The last part of your last statement is true for EVERY season: "and will go as far as the QB can take them." I'm confident that we will be competitive in EVERY game per usual in 2020. JB was phenomenal in 2019. He made great decisions and never seem flustered - especially at crunch time. The Texas game early in the season (3rd-and-17) was incredible. The offense just got better and better. MB will get his chance early to prove himself. He will have his 3rd-and-17 moment I'm sure of that. Let it happen!

O did well for same reason Nick is successful.
Not afraid to change.

Brennan simply wasn't big enough for SEC play.
Here’s Coach Orgeron’s quotes!
2017 Quote:
"Myles Brennan came in here last year and set the world on fire," Orgeron said. "almost beat Danny out. And going into the spring I said, 'You know, it's going to be Myles.”
2017 Result
ALMOST BEAT ETLING OUT
It was Etling again after a strong August push by then true freshman Brennan.
Fact: Matt Canada wanted Brennan as Pro Style QB for his system
The 2018 Spring Battle was heated!
Myles Brennan was the favorite after the first Spring Practice. Coach let the competition continue to Fall. Four QBs battled that Spring and Lowell Narcisse and Justin McMillan left!
Why did these two leave? Answer, they saw it was a two-way Battle. Period!
2018 LSU Summer QB Battle was one for the ages!
https://lsusports.net/news/2018/8/27/211769604.aspx 428 passes, Burrow by a nose
Coach Orgeron Quote:
The battle was close. Really close. One quarterback got 428 reps in the fall, while the other got 427. The battle “seesawed back and forth last week,” Orgeron said. “Either quarterback could have won out.”
Everything was graded: “I thought Steve did a great job of giving them equal reps, graded the things we wanted to see our quarterbacks do on a daily basis,” said Orgeron. “Every situation was given a grade. It's marked down on a sheet of paper. Percentages. Our players saw it. They received the grades every day, so it was obvious to them.”
Both have earned the confidence of the staff and the players. Burrow will get most of the reps this week. But: “If he doesn't perform well, we have no problem putting in the second string quarterback.”
Fast forward two summers later!
You’ve caged a True Tiger, not a quitter, for two years and taught him to beat the best (Best LSU Defenses in History) in Practice and keep up with the best (Joe Burrow) and learn to transition from a Pro Style Pocket QB into a mobile threat that has 4.7 speed
I Pity LSU Opponents in 2020! Truly!
No one sees this coming!

This program needed to be rescued it was stale as shite. I thought we would need a complete overhaul but ED O was able to turn it around quick

Dude..... Are like like Myles brother or something????? This guy has NOT played any meaningful snaps at LSU. Meaning that he has not started A game and was able to go through the ups and downs that go with it... YES I am sure he learned a lot, but to say this guy will be the next so called GREAT LSU QB is just stupid...… We just don't know until we see action ON THE FIELD...…………..

Yeah! This tine last year, Orgeron was a Shrimp Boat Captain. He was still living off his "Binder".
Now Miles and his high quality staff believe Miles is ready to Rumble.
Miles has earned more Creds than board posters.

I’ve met Myles and watched many of his games. He played football with my grandson.
I’ll wager you were one of the bunch lining up the 2019 team up for a 3-loss season at 9-3.
You learned NOTHING from the 2019 team.
You are just a wait and see Tiger. Sorry if you can’t see what I see coming in 2020. Get off the tracks, huh! The O train is coming!
To whom it may concern
Pundits are “seeing it also” revising their guesses that LSU will not be a Top 5 Team
Sporting News LSU at No. 5
Pro Football Focus (PPF) at No. 4
If Myles Brennan stays healthy, the Tigers will again be in the National title race in Dec
Beating Texas, FLA, Bama, et al is not a concern I have.
Georgia and Ohio State both will be good this year. It’s game 13 & 14 & possibly 15 I’m worried about.

Yeah O is probably on his way out already if Burrow never comes here

According to Coach O's good friend Detillier, "Burrow saved Coach O's job."
That would not surprise me.
Given LSU's reputation for hiring coaches, I'm confident they could have found another Miles.

Why do idiots continue to shite on Les?
We won the 2007 national title with 51% of players from out of state. Just stop, Les made this brand a national brand.
Saved the program? Mor like put us back at the top. If our program needed saving then the 118 other programs needed to be as well considering every fricking one of them has had worse seasons than LSU in that time frame.
I bet your one of those that said any one can win here. so which is it?

Why do idiots continue to shite on Les?
And at the end, with a Stone Age offense that gave us little chance to win against the elite teams on our schedule.
That's why.

Now we don't have to rely on Louisiana talent like in the Les Miles days... We are recruiting nationally and have the pick of the litter.
Thank goodness LSU went out of State to get Justin Jefferson, Terrace Marshall,
Jamar Chase, Clyde Edwards-Helaire, Racey McMath, Lloyd Christianberry, Derrick Stingley, Michael Divinity, Patrick Queen, Rashard Lawrence, Tyler Shelvin, John Emery, Ty Davis-Price, Derrick Dillon, and others. Yeah who needs Louisiana kids cluttering up the roster.
OH WAIT.......THEY ARE LOUISIANA KIDS!!
You know your post speaking negatively about relying on Louisiana kids as if it is some sort of problem for LSU has to be one of the most stupid opinions I have ever read on this board and Man that is saying something.
