He needs to visit with Jayden Daniels for a course on how to throw them open

My take is that Burrow has marginal NFL talent, and his brain is what takes him from NFL backup to star caliber. When he is rusty, his brain isn’t doing the heavy lift required. Give him a few games and it will click.

Simple he is hurt. Having trouble planting and throwing like he normally does. He doesn’t have the John Elway arm so it’s hard for him to make every throw. Still had a good day! O line is not playing great either.

I agree that his O line is usually awful but today they did great. I don’t recall him really getting sacked though there were some hurries. If not for his completely awful interception, Bengals could have won. Burrow was injured and of course he will be back to full form soon. Honestly he had an amazing second half too.

Got his contract and big bucks and that will dampen incentive.

FWIW Joe had damn near the same stat line as Lamar Jackson but just had 3 less points…

Doesn’t help if you run the ball 15 times and throw 41. Doesn’t have to be balanced but at least run the ball. Mixon had 4.5 ypc.

They’ll win next weekend if he plays but now I’m worried he doesn’t play after the calf reinjury

He's taking EVERY snap out of shotgun and releasing the ball a 0.5 second quicker than his normal time. He's obviously playing hurt and trying to find ways to play through it

They rushed him back from his leg injury during camp.

The unkind here will downvote no matter what. I will not. Anyway, I agree with others Burrow will soon catch fire. I expect he and the Bengals will be great next Monday night (25th) hosting the Rams, and I believe they’ll win at Tennessee as well. Then they’re going to beat up on the Cardinals; I’ll be in attendance on the visitor’s/Bengals’ side. So they’ll be 3 & 2 and ready to keep on the up and up.

I didn’t think he played terrible today. Wasn’t his best game by any stretch but wasn’t bad.

Combination of things. He and the entire offense are rusty because he missed all of camp. Zac Taylor doesn’t scheme up anything easy and generally doesn’t run a qb friendly offense like Shanahan/Reid/McVay/McDaniel etc, so if Joe isn’t firing on all cylinders there’s not a lot of help.

Main thing is he’s clearly not healthy. You can tell he doesn’t trust it and/or can’t plant and drive the way he normally does, and he also has been very reluctant to break the pocket and throw out of structure, which he normally is very deadly doing.

In hindsight When chase said they should hold him out till week 5 that was clearly an indication that the word inside the team was the calf would still be bothering him into the season.

Maybe he is tired of getting killed out there.

He’s still limping with a normal stride. Maybe he’s recovering while playing but he’s not 100%.

He is clearly injured and reinjured it.
He didn’t have fall camp.
