The 2019 LSU defense was on a whole different level than this defense.
JD is having a much better year than I thought he would I will admit that. He still isn’t in the same league as Burrow and people need to stop comparing the two.

2019s defense didn’t show up for the Texas or Ole Miss game but Burrow still found a way to win. You can’t say the same about JD versus FSU and Ole Miss.

team? Because that is what I am saying. My comment was in reference to we played 3 top 10 teams at this point in 2019. We played UF & Auburn at home which to me is the equivelent to playing Mizzou and OM on the road and FSU at a neutral site which is better than 8-5 Texas.

Yes I’m saying I don’t think FSU is as good as Florida or Auburn that year. Texas may have finished 8-5 but I would argue they played better teams than Florida State is playing this year. The ACC is trash and again I think all conferences are significantly diminished. Playing UF and Auburn at that time is nowhere near the equivalent of playing Ole Miss and Mizz this year. I think Florida and Auburn both beat FSU and yes possibly TX that year.

One of those Top 10 teams was Texas, who was ranked #9 when we played them. They finished 7-5, with 4 conference losses. That's not the "gotcha" people think it was.

Name one top 20 defens Jayden Daniels has played this year. Total defense. As I’ve stated before, he will get his chance against Alabama and Texas A&M. And I would argue that Daniels has a much better offensive line than Burrow did. Despite winning that award. he ended up having to get rid of the ball so quick most of the time. He made them good. it is the same thing that he’s had to do in Cincinnati.

And for the person that said it was the playoffs, Georgia had the number one defense and Burrow put up those numbers.

Auburn had the best defensive line in the country and they played on a soaked field - which nobody talks about.
Florida had a great defense, finished at number 7, that year and Burrow had a 94 passer rating against them. Daniels has a 64 passer rating. I guess the only team with the top 25 defense.

defense made two 4th down goal line stops against Texas on the 1 yard line. Texas scores TD’s there we lose. Held Ole Miss to only 7 1st half points in 2019 while we scored 31. They never got within two scores of us. So it’s dumb to compare team W-L record. One guy had a serviceable defense the other not so much.

talent level by getting kids that have developed after high school. Just b/c the top 10 doesn't look like it did 5 years ago doesn't mean college football is down. You could make the exact opposite argument. Most of the top Heisman candidates are transfers. Daniels, Nix, Penix, Travis, Gabriel, etc are all players who are better off where they are today than where they started. How can anyone say "Teams are just not very good anymore"?

You can watch the games and tell teams are not as good. The list of QBs you reference vs Burrow, Tua, Lawrence, Fields? Time will tell I guess but I don’t see how they compare. The players being paid like they are and players transferring leads to complacency and an overall diluted product. The top 25 may be better (not conceding that either) but the top ten isn’t even close to as good as it was.

The amount of transfers today is tremendous compared to 2019. No shite Burrow transferred. He wasn’t playing where he was. Players today transfer for whatever reason. The number of transfers has created more parody but made the top ten less talented overall. Do you think college kids being given large sums of money and ability to leave their situation at the drop of a hat has made the league better?

As well as fields. 2/4 of the players you listed were transfers. If you had included hurts then 3/5

3/4 heisman finalists were transfers.

3/4 playoff starting qbs were transfers

Yet you want to claim the level of play is hurt now compared to then by transfers

You obviously don’t understand what I’m saying and refuse to acknowledge the overall argument. Those players transferred because they weren’t playing where they were as opposed to now players transferring for any reason and the overall numbers of transfers has increased significantly.
