It just started at a 10 during a quiet timeout.
It wasn't a quiet TO. An injured Tiger was laying on the field and being treated by the Tiger medical staff.
Of course, that was oblivious to those chanting.

Dear Joe,
Don't kill all of our traditions. Chanting frick U Saban to little Dick is a tradition in tiger stadium ever since he called us ditch digger coonass.
PS Turn in your resignation. We don't need you.

So tired of Alleva cashing a million dollar check, ruining tailgating, then having the gall to chastise fan behavior that is the reason Death Valley used to be a feared place to play. Fan passion has been gone the last 2 years and then when fans finally get fired up, he looks condescendingly down his nose.
Nothing Alleva says will have any effect on stopping the Chants either. Either eliminating the student section all together or moving them to one of the Upper Decks (Where their Chants will not be heard) is the only solution that will work.......

A whole lot of misplaced anger in this thread

He could have just said "I'm a pussy" and left it at that.
I cannot imagine Gumps apologizing for anything.

This.
The people chanting are the people that will never read that letter, and probably won't even hear about it. Also, they probably still today are proud of chanting FU Saban and have no clue that they look like idiots. So why stop?

Will some "elite" Northern school please hire this yankee away before he ruins LSU further.
The stadium does like nice though with the new windows and pretty colors

Maybe we could just pipe the chant in...then with that crappy sound system we have this year, no one would understand what was being said! I'm sick of Alleva's corporate hypocrisy!

it all makes sense now he is suffering from brain damage
Duke athletic director Joe Alleva injured his head during a boating accident on a lake north of Durham, and his son was charged in the wreck.
Joe Alleva got 42 stitches in his head as a result of the accident.
Joseph David "J.D." Alleva, 27, was charged with operating a boat while impaired Friday after the ski boat he was driving ran onto a pile of rocks at Hyco Lake.
Sgt. Tim Sasser of the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission said Tuesday that J.D. Alleva refused to give officers a breath or blood sample, but three officers smelled alcohol on him several hours after the accident.
The boat was going about 18 mph or more in a no-wake zone when it hit the rocky bank of a canal on the lake, driving most of the boat out of the water and damaging its hull, Sasser said.
After the accident, the younger Alleva swam about three-quarters of a mile to the nearest lake house to use a telephone to call for help, Sasser said.
His father was treated at a a hospital, where he got 42 stitches to his head.
"The nurse counted 42 outside stitches in the middle of his forehead into the hairline. It was a curved cut that penetrated deep," Sasser said. "They did several inside stitches. He took a pretty good lick. I call that a severe injury."
In a statement issued Tuesday, Joe Alleva said he wasn't seriously injured and was back at work. He said the accident "occurred as we were trying to navigate our way back to shore in dark, rainy conditions." The statement did not mention the charge against J.D. Alleva.
Alcohol use has been a hot topic at Duke this spring. The school canceled the season of its nationally ranked men's lacrosse team after an exotic dancer told police she was raped by team members at a party in March. Three players were charged and face trials.
After the rape allegations, a university panel recommended that the lacrosse team be closely monitored because of a history of alcohol-related problems.
Earlier this month, basketball star J.J. Redick was arrested on charges of drunken driving in Durham County.
The younger Alleva played baseball at Duke from 1998-2001, the same year he was charged in Durham County with driving while impaired.

I agree with this Bama fan 100%. The LSU student section that screams those chants at Saban and were kids when he was at LSU. The students are responding about what they heard while they were in junior high. You don't see Florida being that upset with Steve S. being the coach at S. Carolina. Saban left LSU for the NFL. The NFL didn't work out for him and when he left the NFL Bama fired their young coach and pulled out all os the stops to get Saban. Bama screwed over one of their own native families, who were big Bama athletes, they screwed father and then son. The son was fired to get Saban. This will come back and bite Bama in the butt.

The AD apology accomplishes nothing and only brings more attention to the situation. Alleva needs to realize that his best move here was to simply ignore it. No one else seemed to be making a huge deal of it. But they may now by quoting this fancy PC letter.

This is almost definitely false. I guarantee the AD's office got a ton of complaints about it including from the network.

You are correct. I do not like the chant because it is childish but.... WOW! That was the best cheer the student section has done all year. In sync, everyone together, and clear as a bell all the way across the stadium.
